We had the good fortune of connecting with Corbin Booker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Corbin, how does your business help the community?
Strength Training needs to be at the foundation of every community. Strong communities are supportive communities for a myriad of reasons. Physical, mental, spiritual health all improve massively with consistent strength training. If everyone is able bodied, there is more capability to support. More focus on creating stronger systems together.

If a community is entrenched in a belief that everyone can improve each others lives, via fitness and exercise or otherwise, there is an opportunity for that community to thrive. Natural support systems come into play because everyone has built a belief in each other that success is possible.

Fitness is a space to get your mind off of whatever in our present world is plaguing you. Strength training in particular offers a mental benefit of developing solutions to adversity. When you accomplish a PR, or complete a hard workout, and you complete that multiple times throughout the week, that’s worth celebrating! Thousands of people are avoiding the hard work you just did to take care of yourself, why wouldn’t you be able to accomplish whatever you set your mind to?

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is rooted in postural strength training for the benefits of athletic performance.. My focus is on developing form and technique at your pace as a client/athlete. The term athlete has been thrown around as a buzzword the past few years, but I like to remind people that training like an athlete requires systems like an athlete. It’s not easy to set up a business that a major part of the early work being done is reminding people that they CAN move how they did when they were younger and athletic, it comes from creating more muscle mass to collect and distribute the force. Without muscle they will feel like theyre giving effort that they aren’t.

I’ve learned lots of lessons in trust, faith, partnerships, and consistent practice. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is how you do one thing is how you do everything. It’s another variant of “chop wood, carry water” or any other mantra about embracing the mundane and being consistent with it. The more you can embrace the mundane that comes with consistency, the better prepared and consistent you will be.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My community! There are plenty of people that I could thank for helping guide me along this journey, and the hundreds who have taken my classes, trained under me, or sought me for consultations. My mother, without question. She just called me the other day to let me know she was recognized as the strongest woman at her gym. I’d say the next person would probably be my HS football coach. He’s helped a lot of us move into career paths with confidence. My coaches who gave me a chance at each level to compete and pursue my interests and mentored me as I navigated away from a lot of the traditional career paths that they encouraged. My friends, my brothers. It takes a village and I don’t take mine for granted.
