Meet Corey Simon | Talent Manager, Producer, and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make thus far is moving to Hollywood and leaving my relatives behind. Mom, dad, sisters, brothers… All are back in Dallas. Sometimes, the choice is not the most popular, but very necessary to advance and level up.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been a professional talent manager in Hollywood now for a little over a year, and experience or time on task definitely did not get me here. How I landed here is definitely credited to my ability to be a student of the job that’s in front of me. One thing about me that anyone who knows me would agree on, if there’s something Corey doesn’t know he WILL find out! The wisest lesson I’ve learned is that I know nothing. There’s always room to learn, and I thrive off of gathering the information. Nothing in life worth obtaining comes easy, but it’s worth the journey. Have I ran into roadblocks and brickwalls along the way, absolutely! I’ve been fortunate enough to build some great relationships with a few whom I won’t name here, that I could depend on for a lifeline when needed. I value those relationships dearly. I’ve lived a very interesting life, and I thank God for the lessons. Some of those lessons I won’t speak about here, you’ll have to just wait and pick up the memoir.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of the time, you can spot my friends and I dining at a nice restaurant. A few of my favs in L.A. are Catch LA for their lobster mac & cheese, or Casa Vega if you’re in a Mexican mood (they have the BEST chips and salsa, hands down), and Little Toni’s if you’re feeling Italian. Their pizza is the best! I’m also a big fan of the beach. My favorite is Laguna. I find the ocean fascinating, yet intimidating. However, to me, there’s nothing more relaxing. You would rarely find me in a nightclub or bar but occasionally I do frequent my friends over at Harriet’s Rooftop. On Sunday afternoons, you can count on the DJ there spinning all of your favorite old-school classics, and the vibe is amazing!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Since this is a Shoutout interview, I’d love to give recognition to every person out there that I’ve crossed paths with so far in this life’s journey who is ambitious, self-motivated, and brave enough to share their dreams or ideas with me. Whether or not I was in a position to help catapult that project, idea, or career… I just want you to know (if you’re reading this) I heard you, and respect the hell out of you! Know at some point, I’ve wished you well or prayed for your success. Don’t give up! Keep pushing!
