Meet Corey Spiegel | Founder / CEO Light House

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Spiegel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Human life doesn’t come with a manual. There are no set instructions when things get emotionally challenging. Light House makes these conversations relatable and accesible. I worked in the corporate world for 25 years and when I was considering leaving the entertainment world to start my own business, I wanted to surround myself with smart and open-minded women who could share the ups and downs of what this might look like for me. I had reported in professionally to a “Board of Directors” and thought conceptually every woman needs her own “Board of Directors,” not in a business sense, but for her personal life. Despite having a tight circle of friends, I realized it’s simply not the same dynamic when you ask your BFF’s to problem-solve. It’s too biased, too soft, too one-sided. Often, an objective audience works better than a dearest confident. So I created Light House – a place where women find clarity, wisdom, and perspective. Today, we’re a diverse and inclusive global community of women having honest, authentic, and meaningful conversations about real life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Light House is an objective, supportive, and safe place to unpack your story. From managing grief to dating after divorce, caring for your aging parents, to starting your wellness journey and managing teen angst, we have many common concerns. We also know that it’s vital to have people around you that support you and only want the best for you. We offer a personalized approach and experience so that women from diverse backgrounds can connect, learn from each other, and be inspired. We get real! No topic is off the table. Our relatable classes are conversational and create the perfect environment for women to show up with authenticity. Every group is carefully selected to assure chemistry and a diverse balance of backgrounds and life experiences. Many of our interactive classes are led by specialized and highly renowned experts who provide space for you to get vulnerable, gain perspective, and come out the other side with more confidence and connection to your purpose. In the last 2 years, we expanded our efforts to include luxury wellness retreats offering camaraderie, support, and inclusivity. Our customized retreats are an immersive experience, fine-tuned for optimal physical and mental wellbeing while enabling meaningful connections in a holistic, healing, and life-affirming environment. It’s a judgement-free space to unpack, tell your story, and lean in, while enjoying world-class spa treatments with luxury amenities curated for your stay. We are honored to be partnering with 1 Hotel in Hanalei Bay for 2 incredible upcoming retreats in June and August of 2023. “We believe that transformative wellness experiences are the perfect way for mindful travelers to connect with nature and draw inspiration from the wonderful community of Kaua’i. We are excited to be working with Light House, whose focus on self-care and wellness complements our values completely,” shares Jon Gersonde, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay’s General Manager.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles, California is a vibrant, diverse metropolis where there’s a multitude of incredible things to do.
From spotting stars on the silver screen to viewing stars in the heavens from Griffith Observatory, this West Coast city has it all. You can relax on a balmy beach, tour premier art galleries, and see a celebrity headlined show all on the same day (if you time it right with traffic, that is). Tourists flock to Los Angeles for a behind-the-scenes peek at the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but there’s so much more to this SoCal city beyond the Walk of Fame, stargazing on Sunset Strip, or window shopping at the designer boutiques on Rodeo Drive. The best part is, a trip to the city doesn’t have to break the bank — in fact, there are plenty of fun, free things to do in L.A. I would recommend the following: get your culture fix at LACMA, hike at Griffith Park, check out our amazing music scene at countless outdoor amphitheaters, hit any one of our beautiful beaches and take a bike ride, visit Venice Beach for local favorites, tour the exceptional Walt Disney Concert Hall, spend time at the DTLA Arts District, hang out with friends at The Grove in West Hollywood, and dine at some of the best restaurants that offer spectacular views of the city. There is so much to do and see here and the weather is never an issue!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been countless people who have contributed to the success of Light House but without the participants who are sharing their stories, making the time to show up and offering their own unique perspectives, we would not exist. It takes courage, bravery, and authenticity to walk into a room full of strangers and talk about your personal life experiences. It is also one of the most rewarding things to witness as one common denominator unites the group and turns outsiders into dear friends. As my idea grew, I met many talented and wise women who joined me on this journey. Together, we created a place where women could show up as themselves, come together, and get real – without fear, bias or judgment. Light House was created for me, for you, and for all the women out there in the world who crave wisdom, insight and community in life’s journey.
Separately, none of this would be possible without the love, support, and encouragement from my husband, Jeremy Spiegel.
He has been by my side throughout this entire journey and has inspired me on multiple occasions to keep going. He’s also the reason behind an upcoming retreat I am hosting with 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay on August 1st – August 10th for a 10 day couples retreat titled “Love, Laughter, and Fire.” This retreat is focused on couples looking to deepen their connection to one another. The idea was inspired by my own 26 year marriage to my high school sweetheart and our wedding vows to always maintain the “love, laughter, and fire” in our relationship. He remains to this date the absolute love of my life and I am beyond blessed to have his strength in my corner. I couldn’t have done any of this without him.
