We had the good fortune of connecting with Cosperthenomad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CosperTheNomad, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I don’t think I ever chose an artistic career, per se. My perspective on life has always been about pursuing my truth and following the things I’m deeply passionate about. Music, in particular, has always had a magnetic pull for me. Being able to build a career around my love for music feels incredible and, in my view, is a wonderful way to spend a life.

Growing up in Detroit, I was fortunate to be surrounded by great music. I come from a musical family as well, so there was always singing and instruments being played around the house. One of my aunts even sang backup for Stevie Wonder. I never seriously considered another career outside of music. I was convinced I would be a recording artist after high school, but at the request of my parents, I decided to attend college. I made ends meet by playing piano at upscale hotels before graduating with a degree in finance. Immediately afterward, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my music career.

After a few months of playing my demo for anyone who would listen, I was offered a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. It was not lost on me how fortunate I was to be given that opportunity, so I worked my ass off to make the most of it. Haha.

LA has always felt like a creative sandbox to me. Music, TV, DJing, acting, film, stage, composing… there’s no other place with the kind of creative energy that LA has. And believe me, I’ve been to a lot of places! Creating and performing music in LA has connected me to opportunities across all kinds of industries, especially tech and social media. I’ve held creative positions at several social media companies like Pheed and Mobli. Of course, social media and music are inextricably linked, and being part of that movement has been incredibly rewarding for me.

I’ve been posting content online since I was a kid… and I still do! You should check out my DJ series on YouTube @CosperTheNomad.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In the middle of the pandemic, I sold everything I owned and became a nomad… this decision was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made; firstly, it was a great decision for my personal growth and secondly for my career and my relationship with my music.

Fast forward to today, 4 years since going nomadic, 30 countries, 78 cities, tons of beautiful friendships and 3 hard drives full of music created across the world… I’m filled gratitude and a new perspective on life.

Of course experiencing such a life changing event like this has had a huge impact on my music and how I hope it touches humans… we all have music in common, every single one of us. With music distribution being a global market, I hope my songs and sets help bring a little joy to people’s lives everywhere.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think it’ll be fun to give a worldwide list!

I’ll start with Los Angeles, USA
-We’re doing my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city @ Honey Hi, in Silverlake… everything there is good and fresh, you can’t miss really.

Next… Porto, Portugal
-Brunch @ Sandeira Do Porto, a tall glass of water and one of their homemade sandwiches is special.

Late lunch… Bankgkok, Thailand
-Soufflé. The chefs and bakers cooking are right in the middle of the restaurant and the fish is crazy good.

Dinner… Torino, Italy
Donburri House has the best ramen I’ve ever had…

For an evening hang I’m definitely suggesting a place to listen to some good house mixes! There are too many cool pop ups to list

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Phil Haus – Entrepreneur / Investor
Phil is one of the most innovative and creative executives I’ve had the opportunity to work with in my career. In my experience, he’s been deeply connected to his projects and dedicated to his team members. One of my best experiences working in LA has been working alongside him!

Hayley Delaine – Entrepreneur
Hayley seems to me to be the proto-type for an outstanding “Girl-Boss”, as she likes to call herself! In my experience working alongside her, she’s been fiercely loyal to her team members, highly ambitious and always has a founder’s mentality.
