We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Coons FNP-BC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is woven from three essential threads: dedication, adaptability, and the invaluable support of my colleagues and peers. My genuine passion for aesthetics is the driving force that fuels my dedication to excellence. For me, this is more than just a profession: it is a commitment to consistently delivering high-quality results. It is a commitment to constantly adapting to the dynamic nature of the field; because in the ever-evolving field of aesthetics, it is critical to provide clients with the most up-to-date techniques. I am constantly evolving with the industry, incorporating the latest technologies and evidence-based practices to ensure that my clients receive treatments that not only have a high safety profile, but provide cutting-edge results.
The third and final cornerstone of my success is the collaborative synergy I have with my colleagues and peers, both within the office and within the broader professional community. This exchange of ideas, experiences, and expertise helps me to enhance my own skill set. I am of the belief that collaboration fosters innovation––it is the combined dedication and shared pursuit of excellence within my own professional network that helps me to advance my own personal success.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Aesthetic Medicine at PERK Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills. I was born and raised in New York and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my career in Aesthetic Medicine after completing my board-certification exam. Through my background experience in Trauma/Emergency medicine in combination with Aesthetics, I have developed a wide array of skill sets that I utilize to combine medical precision with my artistic touch.
Establishing yourself in the aesthetic industry is far from easy, but my persistence and resilience were crucial in getting me where I am today. My journey to this point hasn’t been without its challenges, but each obstacle has been a valuable learning opportunity. From facing rejection, navigating the complexities of aesthetic procedures, to ensuring patient satisfaction, I’ve learned the importance of commitment to continued education and staying informed about the latest aesthetic advancements, as well as trusting the process that my hard work and dedication will ultimately allow me to achieve my goals.
What I want the world to know about what successful aesthetic care means to me is that it’s not just about the procedures themselves, but also about building a trusting relationship with patients. I spend a great amount of time with my patients––listening, establishing a rapport, and ensuring comfort. I truly value patient safety, communication, and individualized care. Understanding my patient’s unique goals is essential in delivering personalized and satisfactory results.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The great thing about Los Angeles is that there’s something for everyone! I love having visitors and when I do, we often do a little bit of everything. During the day, I love to take visitors hiking, preferably in Malibu, followed by shopping at a local farmers market or boutiques on Abbott Kenney, Melrose Ave, or the Grove. In the evening, friends love to spend time watching the sunset on the beach followed by dinner! Being from NY, I’m a big foodie and enjoy cocktail bars. My favorite dinner restaurants in LA are Tesse in West Hollywood, Redbird in Downtown, and Pace in Laurel Canyon. My favorite cocktail bar in LA is a small bespoke bar in West Hollywood called Blue Collar that I bring all of my friends and visitors to. After dinner and a cocktail, my friends and I are almost always headed somewhere that has live music, normally somewhere Downtown or in Hollywood. I love all types of live music and it’s probably what I enjoy doing most in my free time. If I had to narrow down three top genres to see live it would be jazz, electronic, and acoustic. I think the best thing to do when living in or visiting a city is to have no strict itinerary––you’ll be amazed at the food, people, and places you stumble upon when you’re open to exploring.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible Dr. Michelle Lee, the founder of PERK Plastic Surgery. Dr. Lee goes beyond being a boss––she is a mentor who not only invests in her team’s professional growth but also prioritizes our personal development. Dr. Lee has played a pivotal role in shaping my approach to aesthetics, and it helps that our mindsets align so seamlessly. We both strongly believe in the power of collaboration and innovation as the cornerstone of a successful career in aesthetics. It is definitely a rarity to find a leader who fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation as effectively as Dr. Lee has for all of us at PERK Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Lee’s support and encouragement have been the driving force behind my ability to explore and master new advancements in aesthetics, continuously pushing boundaries in our field. I owe a significant portion of my success to her guidance and the empowering environment she has cultivated at the practice. Dr. Lee’s outlook on the way a practice should be run sets her apart, and I’m grateful to be a part of a team that thrives under her leadership.
