We had the good fortune of connecting with Craig Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Craig, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Well I grew up on a farm. A pear orchard to be exact. So hard work from a young age was just the norm. You can’t have fruit rotting on the tree. It’s tough physical work with no guarantee of success. You hope for a good harvest but there are so many pitfalls: early frosts, gophers, and Box Elder Bug infestations to name a few. With music it’s such a labor of love that I am already successful just by doing it. Getting to create music with really talented people makes me feel like financial success from this pursuit would be greedy. Having said that I wouldn’t turn it down 😆

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a remodeling contractor for many years and I’ve been winding that business down to devote more time to songwriting and performing and producing records with the Craig Green Band. As a songwriter I have incorporated many disparate influences over the years to create my unique sound. I have a number of exciting collaborations in the works including a recording with some Colombian musicians for my Medellin-based project called Bootleg Paisa. My main takeaway with a creative pursuit is keep going and stay positive. Your people will find you. Your fans, your collaborators, your inspirations. They will find you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to say Duncan Stitt has been a crucial part of my development as a Songwriter and Producer., We have co-produced Craig Green Band Albums Flyboy Serenade and Southland at his A Writer’s Room Studio. I’ve learned a lot from Duncan’s no nonsense and efficient approach to recording. Steve Jones of Tempe’s Los Jones has been a valued collaborator and I’ve learned a lot from watching him perform and in Co-producing the upcoming record which is tentatively titled Viva Los Jones. Collaborating with Brian Berggoetz’ has been an enriching experience and watching he and his band perform has given my band The Craig Green Band something to strive for, Billy Yates, who is producing our next record called 6 Miles to Paradise, has created a really fun and creative vibe on the album which is being recording in a remote mountain cabin in Portal, AZ.
