Meet Curt “Kirkee B.” Bisquera | Drummer, Musician & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Curt “Kirkee B.” Bisquera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Curt “Kirkee B.”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If you really have a desire and passion about what it is you want to BE, “risk” is everything! You must be willing to NOT look at the alternative and know that 100% focus is the way to be! Every aspect of the pursuance will add to your desire, wants and needs. Had I not taken all the risk I had for these past 30+ years, I would not be here to tell you about it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The art of drumming in music is really sacred to me. It’s as old as humanity itself – I can only imagine finding a stick and using it to pound on something to make noise and then for technology to excel and be able to manufacture a drum set, that is just amazing to me! What I feel sets me apart from others, is that I always try to be my authentic self. Yes, like all of us, we emulate those who inspire us then make it our own. I’m really proud and excited to be part of what will be in the near future in this new world – post pandemic. I feel it will bring the most creative music out of us that will inspire! I got to where I am professionally in this moment by complete perseverance. It’s easy in a town like Los Angeles to feel defeat on a daily basis but, you always have to know deep down inside that you always have something to offer that no one else has and that has always been my mantra! I’ve learned that a place like this you will always meet somebody that is JIV positive (jive) but, you’ll meet those who are like-minded and those are the people you want to be with and to create music with. I always want the world to know that what I bring to you personally and musically, is who I am and nothing more and that I give all of my heart to whatever it is I’m involved with. I will always be the first to tell you when I’m not, and I will always tell you if I’m the right or wrong person for the job!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here is my list: (not any particular order) 1. Santa Maria BBQ in Culver City. Go see my boy Jim there to get some authentic Santa Maria Style BBQ! 2. Pro Drum Shop on Vine St. In Hollywood. Stan and Jerry will entertain for hours with much drum lore and story. 3. Tour of the Drum Workshop Factory in Oxnard CA. (Visit www.dwdrums.com) 4. Drive down the coast (after DW Drums) to Malibu to get a Burrito at the Malibu Market Place and then watch the surfers. 5. Go see some music at the Baked Potato – Universal City CA. There’s always some band there that is killin it! (Visit www.thebakedpotato.com) 6. Drinks at MY HOUSE!
