We had the good fortune of connecting with Damilola Okuboyejo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damilola, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My business is built on optimism and determination I started this company 12 years ago and learned everything I know today via the University of YouTube. I didn’t have any natural talent. All I had was determination and staying optimistic. One thing is that guaranteed in entrepreneurship is you will fail, fall and stumble. Being optimistic helps you get back up after every setback. The folks that get to “succeed” choose to stay optimistic. They choose to take another step, try again etc.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
By Dami Studios is a Stationery and Gifting Company. Our superpower is truly representing our clients in “paper”. I feel like my job is done when a guest receives an invitation that we designed and they know exactly who it is from even before reading the names. We continue to test boundaries and innovate. We work with all materials from wood, to acrylic, and much more.

I believe that what has kept us in the game 12 years later is our ability to keep going even when things don’t go as they should. We are problem solvers and take customer service very seriously.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
