Meet Dan Anguiano | Partner of Loosies Pizza

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Anguiano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
If I had never taken a risk, I would not be where I am today. From leaving dead-end jobs to taking a risk opening up a pizza place, risk-taking has been a major part of where and who I am today.
My advice for anyone grappling with ‘what if’ is this: go into it with the mentality that you will be successful. When taking a risk, don’t entertain thoughts of failure.

What should our readers know about your business?
Loosies Pizza was born out of a love for New York. Born and raised in Santa Ana, my partners and I were committed to keeping our community in mind when establishing our shop. As the first slice shop in Downtown Santa Ana, we take pride in offering something previously unavailable in our hometown: authentic NY slices and a unique hangout spot.
What sets us apart is the unique atmosphere shaped by our team’s personalities. Their contributions have given Loosies the vibe it has now. Without our team, our shop would not be what it is today, and acknowledging that is important. We also collaborate with local businesses to bring new experiences to our customers and share the unique flavors of our community.
From our housemade salad dressings to hot sauces and croutons, we pour our love for New York into everything we do. Most importantly, we keep our customers at the forefront. We carefully select authentic ingredients, prioritizing affordability without compromising quality, to ensure our customers get the best experience possible whether it is eating a slice or enjoying a collaborative offering.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To experience Santa Ana cuisine, here are a few places to visit:
1. To start your day off, you can have coffee at Corazon and breakfast at Pop’s Cafe.
2. For lunch, visit Bandito Taqueria for TJ-style tacos and authentic agua fresca.
3. Grab dinner at La Chiquita Mexican Restaurant.
If you want to experience the nightlife, here are a few favorite watering holes:
1. Mission Bar
2. Native Son
3. Cervezacito
4. The Fling

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tony Adame, a mentor, entrepreneur, and above all, a friend, has guided me through significant life and business decisions over the past decade. I attribute my willingness to take risks to Tony. He has encouraged me to look beyond the fear of failure and pushed me to take risks that many are unwilling to embrace.
