We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Onel & Mihaela Dutu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dan & Mihaela, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Both of us had a pretty bad initial experience while working for someone else. Let’s just say we weren’t treated as we deserved. This opened our eyes towards the importance of having your own business and how much working for ourselves can improve our financial freedom.
Both of us developed our own business after that – Dan in Marketing, while Mihaela as a Nails Technician.
It wasn’t easy from the get go, it never is…but with time and perseverence we believe everyone can make it.
This year we saw the opportunitty of starting a business together, working on an NFT project – something that excites us both and makes us really happy. Although initially seemed a bit risky and we didn’t know how it would impact our relationship. so far it proved to be the right decision. We motivate each other whenever things get tough and we feel even a deeper connection than before. Seems like all nine years spent together helped us become quite a team. Who would have thought?!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Mihaela:
Painting is my way of relaxing. I love to paint portraits because I am truly obsessed with gestures and expressions. I figured the best way to exemplify this in my art is through portraits.
I always wanted my art to be unique, for someone to look at it and recognize it immediately. That’s why I chose to create each portrait using a different shading technique.
When I initially started working on them, I wasn’t sure how they will end up looking, but I told myself to trust the process and eventually my beauties took shape.
The message I want to convey through my beauties is that all women in the world are beautiful regardless of their race and culture. I hope this will inspire people to follow their dreams and passions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fringed by the peaks of the Southern Carpathian Mountains and resplendent with gothic, baroque and renaissance architecture, our city, Brasov is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Romania.
Brasov has a very long history dating all the way back to 1211, when it was founded by the Teutonic Knights.
The city is home to one of the the narrowest streets in Europe, Rope Street, whic is only four feet wide.
The Old Townhall Square is lined by colorfully painted and richely ornately baroque structures.
Here you can also find some of the best restaurants in town.
Just south of the Townhall Square, the Black Church – the largest gothic structure in Romania – got its name from the appearance of its exteriour walls, darkened by the flames and smoke of the ‘Great Fire’ of 1689.
Brașov is often referred to as the city at the foot of Mount Tâmpa. When friends come to visit us, we usually hike to the top of the mountain where you can see landscapes torn from a fairy tale.
Nearby is the Bran castle, also known as “Dracula’s castle”. The legend of Dracula makes Bran Castle one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in our country.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dope Stilo is definitely one of our earliest supporters, as well as a big source of inspiration for us. A trendsetter in the Web 3 space, we believe it’s only a matter of time until he will reach massive success.
