We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Jamaica and migrated to the US as a child. Seeing my parents leave everything behind to provide a better life for my siblings and I has always my greatest inspiration. I have no excuses. My parents busted their asses and sacrificed so much for me to have more opportunities and a better life. The least I can do is make the absolute most of it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m not sure if podcasting is technically an “art” but it definitely requires a great deal of creativity. From creating thought provoking questions to posting content to engage with our audience, podcasting definitely stretches me as a creative. My co-host, Alechia Reese and I work great together and feed off each other. The process of getting the podcast off the ground was actually easier than I thought it would be. I believe it flowed so easily because we are walking in our purpose. Everything just fell and continues to fall into place. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that we are all so much more alike than we are different. We can get through anything and everything if we stick together and allow our differences to work for the collective rather than against. The world will know that I was here and be better because of it. My mantra is to always leave things better than I found them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok so I live where you vacation! There’s ALWAYS something to do in Miami baby! We would have to go to Bal Harbour to shop and eat at Makoto or Carpaccio. You can’t come to Miami without doing Kiki on the River on a Sunday. Recently I went to this open air circus called Palapa in Upper Buena Vista and it was incredible. There are too many restaurants to choose from but we would go to Novikov, Papi Steak, Carbone or Sexy Fish. Omg…Brunch! Brunch in miami is an absolute must! Red Rooster in Overtown is yummy and is a viiiiibe for brunch. Just about every restaurant has a brunch on Sunday and unlimited mimosas is always a good idea. Of course we can go to the beach and lay out but it’s best to do so after a spa day at Carillon Wellness Resort or The Standard. I’m a fan of luxurious relaxation and Miami is the perfect place for that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my fiancé and life partner, Reginald Bourdeau. You have not only changed my life but you’ve changed the way I approach life. I’m grateful to have found you again in this lifetime.
