We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, why did you pursue a creative career?
After many years in a medical corporate setting, I got the opportunity to go to back to school for Esthetics at the age of 37. I always have been a part of the artistic community from a very young age and I was discouraged because I was told by some that I would never make a living from it. I decided to study skin because of my medical background and the fact that it is art, you see skin is a canvas, I am super patient and very optimistic. Skin is very tempermental and changes daily, I love watching it glow and at the same time seeing my clients smile with amazement.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I actually taught esthetics at the school I was certified from for about two years and while doing that I started my business, so while teaching, I was doing – I call it, “Practice what you teach.” I continue my education, I am also certified / licensed in other specialities. How I came this far professionally, is education, supporting others and combining their knowledge with myself and others is so huge and is what gets you the experience to help others. By far this journey was not easy, it’s not meant to be and if it was, there was a step missed and I would not change a thing! In times that felt overcoming, I would lean onto my support system and remember my strength. The main things I have learned is to not take things too personal, be kind no matter what, patience, willingness and most importantly, to be teachable.

I would love for everyone to know that above all I am honest in the way I treat you and your skin, I am not here to rake in mega profits and do whatever makes the most. You can schedule a specific treatment that may not be the correct type, I am simply here for you and the health of your skin and I love spoiling my clients! I find cute and creative ways to show you how grateful I am that you would support me and my passion.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in Los Angeles! I am so into historical places!! I love fairs, so if it was the right time of the year one day we would go to the fair, eat weird food, play games! I really love this museum called Heritage Square Museum, we would have a picnic and do the tour afterwards. Maybe even get a tattoo, hahaha – if that’s something they are looking to do or into. We would have to hit the beach, hike and if we had a day or two left we could camp at the beach and eat s’mores!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that along the journey every single person you encounter along the way is a part of your success, whether it was a positive or negative experience! I most certainly had support from my wonderful Fiancee and my Daughter is most definitely my HERO – we have been through so much and she’s always there. The school I attended gave me the foundation and hope to become who I am in the industry. Also, my Mother and Grandmother are the two that have shown me strength and independence to be who I am and for the future me!
