We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Poppitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dani, what do you attribute your success to?
Success is the result of years of building. I’d say the most important factor in my own success is just not giving up. Most people will get discouraged and use that feeling as justification to quit. You have to be prepared to lose over and over again until one day something gives. I think working hard in silence is the key. Let the sound of your wins be the noise.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am a recording artist and songwriter so music is everything to me. My favorite thing about my art is the opportunity to emote. I love to make people feel overcome with emotion. As a songwriter I love to work with artists that are afraid to go where they haven’t been. I love to be the person in the room that hold everyone accountable for honestly. The best songs are honest ones.

It’s been a long journey to get to where I am today but it’s been really fun and I’ve learned so much. I am thankful for all the people that have taught me along the way.
Lots of lessons but the one that sticks out the most to me is having the will to not give up. Songwriting is a long game and this industry is huge and small at the same time. You never know who will have the next song on the radio and it’s important to be kind and not underestimate the power of determination.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I LOVE L.A.

Randy Newman didn’t write that song for no reason. There’s so much to see and do. I think a Dodgers game is a must! But before any Dodgers game you have to go to El Compadre in Echo Park. That place is some of the best Mexican food you can find in Los Angeles. Plus they make flaming margaritas so that’s fun.

Another go to restaurant I love is Bacari in Silver Lake. It’s the perfect place to take a few people and share everything family style. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is like a boutique rainforest Café in the middle of LA.

One of my favorite museums to go to is the Autry museum in Griffith Park. It’s right across from the LA Zoo and is full of Native American artifacts. It’s so cool to see all the historical pieces from hundreds of years ago that still exist. These are pieces of Californian everyone should see.

Of course you gotta hit the beach but I’d say head north and do the Malibu beaches. Less crowded and very clean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes!!! I want to shout out my awesome support team. Amanda Schupf and Ethan Germann and Tiffany Almy. They are the reason I’ve been able to stay successful and organized on all business fronts. It truly takes a village.
