We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My passion for creativity has been an integral part of my identity since childhood, predating my career choices. From early on, I found joy in expressing my imagination through various creative outlets, whether it was making up games or creating projects that went beyond their initial purpose.

One of my early professional experiences involved working in a trophy warehouse, where my primary task was assembling different components to create trophies. While the work was repetitive, I transformed it into a personal challenge, setting goals to complete tasks within specific timeframes. Recognizing my enthusiasm and dedication, a manager approached me to temporarily fill a role in the office, tasked with creating digital files for plaques and nameplates. This opportunity introduced me to the realm of digital art, where I developed my skills using programs such as Illustrator, CorelDraw, and Photoshop.

This experience reignited my dormant passion for creative expression, prompting me to seek opportunities that aligned more closely with this newfound interest. Despite exploring various industries over the years, I eventually circled back to my creative roots. In partnership with my wife, we founded RevComm Consulting, a business where I actively engage in both creative and IT projects. This journey has not only allowed me to pursue my passion but has also equipped me with a diverse skill set that I bring to any creative endeavor.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At RevComm, our mission is rooted in the belief that we can [rev]olutionize [comm]unities through the power of philanthropy. This guiding principle is embedded in both our Consulting and Foundation work, where we consistently strive to bring about positive change through a nonprofit lens.

On the consulting front, our focus is on providing comprehensive support and solutions to nonprofit organizations that may lack in-house expertise in certain areas. We go beyond the traditional consultant role, positioning ourselves as thought partners. Our commitment extends beyond project scopes; we become advocates, supporters, and volunteers for the organizations we work with.

Within our foundation, our mission is to level the playing field for grassroots nonprofit entities. We offer critical financial support to local organizations when they need it most – the early years. We’ve witnessed firsthand how small nonprofits in the infancy stage often face a lack of support from funders, supporters, and volunteers, leading to closures and an inability to serve their communities.

At RevComm, we attribute our success to transparency, fair pricing for services, and treating each client’s business as if it were our own. Our recommendations are based on standards we uphold for our own organization. Growing RevComm has been a journey marked by authenticity and dedication. While the business world is saturated with promises of rapid growth within short timeframes, we understand the importance of patience. Building a business, cultivating a client network, and establishing a trustworthy brand requires time and commitment.

Whether directly through our foundation or by supporting our nonprofit clients, our goal is to leave our community better than we found it. We hope readers take away our dedication to making a meaningful and lasting impact on the world around us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a passionate foodie and lover of craft beer and cocktails, I love to share the vibrant experiences of Southern California with friends visiting from out of town.

Having grown up in Orange County and now residing in Riverside, there’s an abundance of diverse and exciting destinations to explore. When friends arrive, our journey typically begins in Downtown Riverside, where we enjoy the rich history and architecture of the Mission Inn. We stroll through the cultural displays at The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture within the Riverside Art Museum, and for a scenic adventure, we lace up our hiking boots to venture up Mount Rubidoux, enjoying the breathtaking views.

After a day of exploring, it’s time to fuel our appetites with some foodie favorites that Riverside has to offer. Whether it’s the innovative dishes at the Riverside Food Lab, the savory offerings at The Salted Pig, or the unique charm of Tio’s Tacos, there’s no shortage of foodie adventures. As a craft beer enthusiast, we also make stops at Stone Church Brewery and Thompson Brewing Company to enjoy their refreshing brews and keep our spirits high.

Given my early years in Orange County, a short drive to this coastal haven is a must. Our itinerary includes visits to the iconic beaches of Huntington, Newport, and Bolsa Chica, creating memorable moments by the ocean. Exploring Santa Ana’s vibrant 4th Street Market, Chapter One, and Native Son to add that foodie touch to our trip. We enjoy the City of Orange with its circular charm, inviting us to explore vintage shops and savor delicious bites at the Filling Station or Felix Cafe. And, of course, our journey wouldn’t be complete without a taste of the unique and delicious craft beers at some of my favorite breweries like The Bruery in Placentia, Brewery X in Anaheim, or Bootleggers in Fullerton.

To me, hosting friends from out of town means planning an experience that blends history, culture, nature, delicious foods and refreshing drinks, ensuring they leave with memories they’ll never forget of Southern California’s diverse offerings.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Reflecting on this question feels like crafting a novel, looking back on the stories of every person who has played a role in shaping who I am today. First and foremost, I’d be remiss without acknowledging the profound impact of my family—both then and now.

My father’s life story reads like a script suited for a film. As the eldest among his siblings, he embarked on the journey to the United States, driven by the pursuit of a better life. Beginning his career working the graveyard shift in a factory as a janitor, he faced financial challenges, resorting to sleeping in the breakroom until the buses started running in the morning. Intrigued by the machinery, he observed others at work and, upon learning of a shortage of machine operators, volunteered his skills. This narrative has become a cornerstone in my life, highlighting the values of hard work and determination, emphasizing that we all start from the bottom in the workforce.

Fast forward to the present, and the story unfolds to highlight the pivotal role my wife plays in supporting and encouraging me to pursue my passion. We often sit in awe as we look back at the milestones that shaped significant decisions in our lives. Following the birth of our son, she urged me to take time off to bond with him as an infant, mirroring the support she had received during her own maternity leave. Despite our fears about making ends meet, her dedication at work was rewarded with a promotion the very next day after having this discussion, and I immediately jumped into the stay-at-home dad role that really helped shape the father I am today. When we took the leap to start our own business a year later, the early days came with financial worries and wondering how we’d be able to make this work. However, I received a job offer that provided stability while our business launched and quickly flourished. My wife consistently fosters my creativity, motivates me to pursue my passions, and instills in me the belief that one should never settle for merely a paycheck.

In my life’s journey (so far), I credit various colleagues, managers, and trainers who have shaped the person I am today by helping me develop diverse skill sets, knowledge, and perspectives. We are, indeed, products of our environments, and I consider myself fortunate to have been surrounded by such an enriching one.
