We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As much as I’d love to take credit for starting this business, the truth is my parents founded it 31 years ago. My dad officially retired six years ago and asked if my mom and I wanted to continue what they had built. Honestly, I didn’t step in just to own a business- it was more about continuing my fathers passion for supporting the people behind the flowers.

We source most of our flowers from Mexico, which directly impacts about 50 families there. Additionally, we work with growers from California, Colombia and Ecuador, expanding our reach. While some people may view flowers as a luxury, I believe its deeper than that. Every bouquet or arrangement represents livelihoods and dreams. What seems like a fleeting moment of beauty at an event is actually a form of quiet support that uplifts communities in ways many don’t realize.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business, Flores Deos, is deeply people-oriented. As I mentioned before, we’re still here after 31 years only because God has willed it. It hasn’t been easy—starting as an immigrant family brough many challenges. In Mexican culture, we’re taught to work hard, but not always smart, so investments and strategic growth weren’t a priority for my parents. Looking back, there are things that could have been done different, but through it all, God has been faithful, and we are grateful to still be standing.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned are that honesty, integrity and keeping your word are values that truly make a difference in business. In this field especially, putting others before yourself is essential- whether that’s our growers, customers or team.

What I want the world to know about Flores Deos is that we strive to show God’s hand in everything we do. Every flower we sell represents more than just a product- it reflects our commitment to doing business the right way and lifting up the people behind the scenes. This journey is more than just flowers; its about honoring God and serving others through every interaction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to give them a true taste of the beauty and diversity Los Angeles offers. We’d start with an early morning visit to The Original Los Angeles Flower Market—there’s something magical about seeing the market come alive with fresh blooms from around the world. After that, we’d grab tacos for breakfast at Sonoratown, -a few blocks down from the market.

From there, I’d take them to the Griffith Observatory for some breathtaking views of the city. I would ask them to hike through Griffith Park promising to reward them with my favorite Mexican restaurants. You really can’t go wrong starting a day with flowers and ending it with Mexican food. Beauty, culture and food really could be used to define the spirit of LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our success from the very beginning is entirely due to God’s mercy and grace. When my dad started here at The Original Los Angeles Flower Market he had nothing. He was the first Mexican to begin importing gladiolus and tuberoses from our hometown in Mexico to Los Angeles. It was through God’s protection and faithfulness that my parents were able to build such a strong foundation. Their honesty and dedication in running the business also played a huge role in that success.

I want to give a shoutout to God for his guidance, to my parents for their integrity and hard work, and to the people behind every flower we sell. These are the people who wake up at 4am, head to the fields, cut roses and other flowers and prepare them to be shipped. They are the ones who get their hands dirty so that someone else can create beauty for life’s special moments. Without them, none of what we do would be possible.
