We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
There’s a very popular, lengthy quote that has sort of shaped the way I’ve lived my life and one that during tough times, I’ve relied upon. Many of you may know this by heart, but here it is for those who haven’t had the opportunity to be moved by these words;
“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I printed this quote out when I first read it and it went with me everywhere. Tucked into notebooks, pinned to cubicle walls, taped to bedroom mirrors; and now it hangs in the back room of my store. I love the tenacity of these words, the gentle but firm reminder that it’s never too late to start living your best life. In short, this quote reminds me that if you’re not fulfilled in your life, you have the power to change it.
Make the best of your life, or make the worst of it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
ivy + pine is a boutique created to celebrate the badass babe in all of us. Our slogan is “Cute Clothes for Badass Babes” and while we have now branched into carrying more than clothing, our goal is still the same; celebrating people for who they are! We are all complicated, messy and beautiful and we want you to feel like you’re seen, heard and celebrated. We work to find pieces that are long lasting, well made and make you feel like a badass.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many amazing people who I’ve had the privilege of being able to lean on over the last few years. Through events, pop ups and general networking I’ve met some amazing individuals who are now close friends and many who are also small business owners. This career path is incredibly difficult and not many people can understand what it takes to succeed in small business, and I’m so grateful for the women I’ve been able to bounce ideas off of, commiserate with/to, cheer for and partner with.
