We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Foruzesh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I was single when I started in the fashion industry and was able to dedicate my full attention my business only. The sacrifices of working long hours, or 7 days a week didn’t seem like a big deal at the time. Once you start a family, then you need to maintain the right balance between work and life. It’s a challenge at times to balance both, because each needs the proper amount of your time and attention in order for them to thrive. Being blessed with 3 daughters and a beautiful wife, allowed me to realize that I need to be more involved with my family so that I don’t lose out on making memories with them that will last a lifetime. The sacrifices from a father’s perspective are to make sure that you are still giving your proper dedication and attention, in order to be successful at work and at home. It’s not easy but worth the effort.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an immigrant to this country, my father came here with limited knowledge of the English language, skills that were not transferable without more schooling and limited income earning opportunities. He was a brilliant engineer in Iran and always loved fashion as a past time interest. He decided to gamble with his passion and opened a clothing company. He would buy finished goods from other vendors and resell them to retailers. He eventually learned how to manufacture his own clothes, and the company flourished even more. During the summers, I would go and work with him so we could also spend quality time together and started to learn the business at 13 years of age.
He taught me firsthand the basics of business and this industry. The life experience and business skills taught me are the key factors in my own success. I’m proud to have taken my family business and to turn it to what it is today with our Lovestitch brand.
As a father of 3 young daughters, I look forward to the day when this will all get passed on to them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a foodie who loves the culinary diversity in Los Angeles, I would take them to Little Tokyo in Downtown for one of the most authentic Japanese sushi experiences at Sushi Gen. In my opinion, this is the best sushi place in all of Los Angeles. Los Angeles is filled with such rich culture and history. There are so many different fascinating places to hang out. For me personally, taking a long scenic drive down to Laguna Beach is where I would want to hang out. Then endless miles of beaches, the eclectic neighborhoods throughout the beach cities are but picturesque and beautiful. The amazing trails, the fresh ocean air and the gorgeous sunsets are my favorites.
Being in my 50’s, I’m enjoying this pace of life more than the LA fast paced lifestyle from my younger days.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a Shoutout to my father Cyrous for starting this business and for showing me what hard work ethics is all about.
