We had the good fortune of connecting with Daquan Chambers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daquan, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
A lot people don’t know I served in the military, I’m veteran classified at 22 years old. I knew it wasn’t for me I was miserable in there. I was so hungry to chase my dreams I figured a way to get out early with honorable discharge. Everything happens for a reason though, the habit of praying consistently and keeping God first has prepared me mentally and physically for this journey. He knew I was ready just wanted me to figure out how I could unfold all my steps to get where I am today. Moving 3,000 miles from my hometown North Carolina to Los Angeles has played a huge factor in my success story even though it hurt me to the core to relocate from family which still is my biggest obstacle but without them I wouldn’t have the strength to keep going everyday.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My mental sets me far apart from others, at the end of the day there was no rest days for me I had to hustle in some unfortunate circumstances. Nothing was ever handed to me, I knew others had an advantage over me but it never stopped me from doing what had to be done . I’m most proud of all the progress I’ve made and the projects I have been apart of, learning the ins and outs of the industry has been one heck of a ride. What professionally got me here was I took an acting class which led me to auditioning and booking a couple roles which got me signed with my talent agency allowing me to be represented by my agent. It was not easy getting here I slept in my car and before that I lived in a studio with 3 people. I learned that along the way it’s gone be trial and error everything doesn’t happen overnight. You could be down one day and up the next that’s just how life works. Tunnel vision on the end goal will set you up in the long run. I want people to know that I will never stop storytelling, creating and motivating others to keep chasing their dreams because I’m living proof. Job isn’t finished I’m still growing, being disciplined, facing challenges and connecting with my higher self.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living one year in the city is still unbelievable. I’m still new to the area but If I had a friend visiting for the week we would eat at Korean BBQ when I tell you this place will make you so full the food constantly comes and you cook it yourself. The hangout spot would be Universal Studios from blockbuster, thrill rides to shows that light up the night. We would also visit Black Market Flea which is a black creative platform it has more than 80 vendors, dope clothes, accessories anything you looking for is here. In my view a dodger baseball game with friends is a exciting activity to check out . I highly recommend round 1 it’s like a bowling and amusement spot .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ever since I was a kid I thought about the idea of being an actor in LA, where I’m from a dream like that isn’t possible or realistic. So for years I always thought how was I gone get there I don’t know anybody in LA and it’s very expensive, just reflecting on it scared me. My mom Shonda Chambers told me your young so go chase your dreams, be a star what’s the worst that could happen along the way. My mother was kinda skeptical about me moving across the world by myself without ever had being to LA prior to. My brother Gregory Barnes trusted long unseen hours I put in my craft. My sister Brittane Chambers always supported me and wanted me to get out of North Carolina she knew I would end up doing the wrong thing that could jeopardize my career. Shoutout to my uncle Steven Douglas for seeing the light in me before I even realized my own potential .
