Meet Darius Winfield | Rapper & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Winfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darius, what do you attribute your success to?
God’s guidance has been instrumental for myself and my brand’s success. With Jesus Christ’s help, I was able to take risks and make myself successful, even if it meant missing out on family gatherings.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a music artist and a designer. What sets you apart from others is my passion, creativity, my influences which I reference, and I do a lot of my own production It’s these precise touches that make my work truly unique and captivating. Explore a world of sound crafted with heart and dedication. I’m thrilled to have a platform to introduce my ideas into the world. With the right intention and enthusiasm, something remarkable can be made. This next collection of songs I’m releasing brings something new to the table. Moving to Chicago played a huge influence on my crafts today. I went to college in Chicago to have a place to live, and in my downtime, I started exploring the city and attending different events. I soon fell hard for the city and all it had to offer. It was hard at first because I didn’t know too many people. But once I got my first manager, Adrienne she started booking me for shows and the popularity started to grow. I trusted that the challenges I faced were preparing me for God’s great plan. I never faltered in my faith, no matter how tough things got. Some lessons I learned along the way was all those old school sayings my elders used to say are so true. A few are following the Ten Commandments, always show people manners because you never know who you talking to, and treat others as you want to be treated. I want people to know my brand is inspired by luxury, streetwear, and from my school area. My music is a tool used to express myself and to get people closer to God.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Black Market Flea on a Sunday afternoon. I’ve been wanting to try Arize Bistro in Long Beach, so I would take them there. While in Long Beach I would stop by SnoCorner Snoballs & Cream. I would also do some tourist stuff like go to Hollywood Blvd, Glendale Galleria, and The Groove.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I must give immense gratitude to Pastor Shawn Floyd, a major source of inspiration when I was in sixth grade at Willard J. Gambold School 108. My friend Leonard “Pee Wee” showed up to school with a lot of money and, upon asking, told me that he had been selling candy and that I could talk to the same person after school. Pastor Shawn encouraged me at a formative age to develop an enterprising outlook, and I continue to be an entrepreneur to this day, thanks to his influence.
