We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrel Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darrel, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the idea and truth that “you only get one of these.. life.” Without taking moment by moment, life is simply just passing us by. That is why we must create and be present in the very minute moments. In one hundred years most of us will have passed on, so will our “perspectives” and aspirations. This inspires me to be truthful at will with nothing left to chance. Tomorrow is not promised. “Right now is.. today.”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This a multiple questions in one; so in simplicity I will say what I’ve said before. Life is not promised. Growth is a moment by moment process if we care to see it. I’ve realized the more I deal with the “True me” and not my “perspective of me,” I’ve been able to truly see an increase in all areas of creativity. Transitioning from doing shows purely about my reality into doing movement installations from various peoples around the globe.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them Downtown to Skid Row; that’s all they would need to see to find truth.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout Johann Johannsson, Max Richter, & God as their music has gotten me through the pandemic. There are so many more honorable mentions. Also, my family and my friend/manager Stephen “Swizzy” Banks. They have been my support system as God has been taking me higher within the last year and a half.
