We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrin Barber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darrin, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The amount of rejection you receive. You have to have grit and tough skin like a Rhino. Keep it moving forward always

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always had a heart desire to entertain people. I was born to be a entertainer. After my basketball days ended. I decided to become a actor. It wasn’t the easiest transition. There were a lot of fears I had to overcome. One thing about me I’m not afraid to take risk even if I know the outcome will embarrass me. I learned on my acting journey that failure is your best friend. When you fail over and over again you begin to grow and become a wiser person. I’m most proud of my ability to find work and get booked without having a agency or manager. Will I like to have representation? of course!. All I need is for someone to believe in me. I feel like the right agency or management will find me I won’t have to look to hard for them. I want the world to know this one thing about me. No matter how hard or tough my journey was. I always figure out a way to adjust and overcome. Even when the odds was stack up against me. Sometimes adjusting to change takes me longer then the average person. But my belief in myself kept me going!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First time around. I will take my friends to all the popular areas in LA. Hollywood Blvd, Fairfax, Melrose, Santa Monica pier , Venice Beach. Once they experience the tourist locations. Next trip new restaurants and malls ect. If I could, sometimes I invite them to set, so they can see how my lifestyle is! I always want my friends that visit to have a fun trip. So whatever they want to do or adventure off too. I’m all for it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Man there’s so many people I have to thank. For me making it this far. First my mom and older brother. Both have taught me life lessons that stuck with me. My high school mentor, who preach to me how important a positive mindset is. Also to put God in everything you do. My friends who stayed or left. I feel like you can learn from anyone in life. I been blessed to have some great friendships in my lifetime. I say it all the time. I wouldn’t be where I’m at in life, if I didn’t have the friendships and family members that helped me along the way!
