We had the good fortune of connecting with Darwin Damian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darwin, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing an artistic or creative career was pre destined for me. My dad was a singer and he named me Darwin, because he wanted me to follow in his footsteps. As a teen, I was always fascinated by the arts. I have always had a passion for movies and music. The first film I executive produced is called, “Adventures of Power” directed by Ari Gold, starring Adrian Grenier, Michael McKean, Jane Lynch & Shoshannah Stern. I’ve also done work in the Sopranos, Castle, Hopes Portal and executive produced and edited the music video “Fight” featuring Cara Quici. I met Cara after she did her first single called “As We Live”, a beautiful ballad. Cara’s ballad was played on-air on The Howard Stern Show! Soon after we met we began working together and we have been a team since. Working with Cara I have executive produced two radio singles, “Away From You” & “Fight”, the remake of the classic (You Gotta) “Fight For Your Right” (To Party) by The Beastie Boys. I’m currently Executive Producing Cara’s album, Cara Kush Kronicles, with power house Wendy Starland, who is responsible, for discovering Lady GaGa. Another member of my team is Littlesam, a New York City based artist, focusing on music production and deejaying. Though his music can be considered as dance, he takes inspiration from New York house and is currently working on an EP that is set to be released this year. Another creative outlet for myself is photography. I have been shooting for over 10 years professionally. My work has been featured in Maxim, FHM, StyleCruze, GMARO, ECLAIR, NALUDA, PEDIGREE, etc… My greatest accomplishment in photography was a billboard in Times Square for New York Fashion Week 2021. The billboard featured Wendy Starland, the face of SIMA Collezione. Shooting the whole collection and closing NYFW ’21 was a huge honor and a very humbling experience.Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After graduating from Stony Brook University, I worked in sales for the wireless industry. On my first year, I reached 190% of quota and won a sales award and an all expense paid trip to Vegas. Soon after I didn’t feel challenged anymore, so I decided to start my company, Darwin World Media. Initially I stared working in NYC Nightlife, working at very high-end venues like Pangea, Ciprianis & Cain. I was very accomplished in the industry receiving a write up in Mob Candy Magazine as the “King of New York”. Darwin World Media eventually expanded into the Film & music industry. Executive Producing Film and radio singles. There is always challenges when you’re the founder and CEO of your company. You don’t feel the long hours because you’re driven by passion and you love what you do. Like everyone else, there is always ups and downs, but I always look at the glass half full. Like my fried Anya told me the other day, she has always looked up to me, as a person that is consistent and very loyal. I feel that is the secret to my success, LOYALTY! I have been fortunate enough to cultivate decades of friendships that I know will pick up the phone when I call.If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m originally from NYC, the city that doesn’t sleep, but being an LA native for many years now, this is what I recommend. One of the best things I love about LA is hiking. A couple of my favorite hiking spots are Runyon Canyon & Temescal Gateway Park. The views are breathtaking. If you’re a beach person, you can’t beat Marina Del Rey, one of my favorite restaurants there is SALT. Want to learn to surf? Walk from Marina to Venice Beach and get some surfing lessons from Aloha Brothers or Go Surf LA. After a long day, a few of my favorite dinner spots in Hollywood are Beauty & Essex, Tao. In West Hollywood CatchLA & in Beverly Hills, Avra, Nusr-ET & Paris Tokyo! Looking for a night out? Then you need to reach out to the best in VIP service. Roman Rey-Chavent from Limitless Lifestyles & Arnaud hold events at the best spots in LA. Their latest venture is Sunday Nights at Paris Tokyo. A MUST!!! Another magnificent spot is The Highlight Room, A TAO GROUP concept with a rooftop pool at The Dream Hollywood. This spot is hosted by one of the best in the business, Hardy Vibert from PHH Hospitality Group. Last, but not least is my boy from when I was involved in NYC Nightlife, Adam Glove from Affinity Nightlife. He hosts Penthouse Dayclub and many other venues and is always looking to hire staff for his events.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to a non profit called “No Dogs Left Behind”. I donate and volunteer my time to this organization that leads in the fight against animal cruelty. They rescue and rehabilitate dogs from the illegal dog-meat trade. These dogs are rescued from Asian slaughterhouses and are rehabilitated in No Dogs Left Behind sanctuaries around the globe before being united with their forever homes found by NDLB. To find out more and donate, please visit www.NoDogsLeftBehind.com. Cara & myself will also be hosting a special event to raise awareness, Thursday, October 28th, 6-8pm at 3rd Base LA in Hollywood.

Additionally, I would like to give a shoutout to Cara Quici, Wendy Starland, Sima Azadegan, Littlesam, High Fashion Model Joanna Borov, Carlos Martinez, Willie Gonzales, Honey Tefreshy & Ania Bakunova!
