We had the good fortune of connecting with David Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Road House Entertainment was founded in 2008 in a restaurant at The Grove in Beverly Hills California. It is really a simple story. Actor Ron Lester (Varsity Blues / Not Another Teen Movie) and I were having dinner when I had expressed an interest in becoming a manager for celebrities. Ron told me that I did not have the temperament or personality to be able to possibly handle Hollywood.
For whatever reasons, his comments left me with a burning desire to prove that theory wrong. Several months later I launched my company and invited Ron to become a client. At that time he declined. Understandable, as I was new to the industry and still learning how Hollywood operated.
About a year passed, and I had slightly changed my focus to doing more live events and shows, and Ron had decided to finally give us a try. Long story short, overnight he became our biggest client and we worked well together until his unfortunate passing.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Road House Entertainment is more focused on LIVE events and shows. We cater to Conventions, Personal Appearances and Live Shows. The company as a whole tries to be well rounded on all aspects surrounding what we do. We have been called a Boutique Agency because we go out of our way to help both the client and our talent to make sure that they have what they need for a great show or event.
I, Myself and my company are where we are today because we never gave up. I have managed to keep my head up no matter what this business or life itself has thrown at me. Most don’t make it past their first year in this business because it is not as easy at it seems. You will not succeed in your first year, no matter how great you think you are. It takes a lot of dedication, rejection and hard work to make it through and keep rolling.
Lessons that are learned a long the way are the rejections and failures that you WILL endure. The best parts of being rejected, making mistakes and falling on your face (not literal) are that you can learn from those and pick you self and do better for the next event. Your ability to learn from your mistakes will make you a better person in this business as well as help your company grow to the next level.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am, what they call a Theme Park Junkie. When friends visit for more than just a day, I try to convince them in to visiting a Theme Park with me. I am located in Orlando, Florida so I have the Disney Theme Parks, as well as Universal Studios, Gatorland, SeaWorld and several water parks that we can visit. Orlando has great weather 11 months out of the year and this is an ideal area to visit.
In addition to the Theme Parks, we also have the World Famous RON JON’s surf shop, The Kennedy Space Center where the Apollo, Gemini and Space Shuttle programs launched from, and now Elon Musk’s, Space X. Buzz Aldrin lives about 30 minutes from my house.
Also, we have one of the largest Cruise Ports, with the Disney Ships, Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines and more. There is so much to do here, that I could entertain my friends and guests for a month, and still have more to do.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ms. Cheryl Cooley of the all female musical group, Klymaxx. I met Cheryl through an email that I had send to her when I was fresh and just getting started in the industry. For whatever reason, she took an interest in myself and my company and believed in what I was doing.
Cheryl and I quickly became friends more than we did business associates. She saw something in myself, and has been my biggest cheerleader since. Cheryl’s love and encouragement throughout the years has kept me level headed and focused through some pretty rough times going into and out of the Covid pandemic.
