We had the good fortune of connecting with David Moskowitz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

Always been artistic and creative: From building pachinko games, go karts and mini pool tables as a kid in Brooklyn (my dad was a shop teacher), to writing for a teen publication while in high school (Tucson Teen Magazine), to making my own stage costume over the course of 13 years to the tune of $1k (I wear it while I play guitar and sing to original songs in open mics).

And now I come up with mind blowing film, TV and music concepts!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a friend of mind says, by the time you’re 50 you should’ve mastered something. What sets me apart from others is life experience and trial and error. The key is to always ask yourself, “If someone were to do this, how would it look? What angles would be uncovered? How would it be taken to the next level?” And then you seek to rise to that level! In my 50s I’ve FINALLY found the holy grail of songwriting, acting and developing a film/tv concept! By the way, I STILL take online songwriting classes and classes given by casting directors (eg. re: self-tapes). The key is to continually enrich yourself as a person and professional development.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them on a 15-minute helicopter ride to Catalina Island. Explore the Wrigley Botanical Garden … do a zip-line eco tour … kayaking … watch the sunset over dinner … spend the night there close to the beach … next morning coffee and breakfast … stroll Crescent Ave. … take a 15-minute helicopter ride back to the mainland … then lunch at Fashion Island in Newport Beach!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Shoutout to: People who took a chance on me (you know who you are, thank GOD you DID! 😊🙏🏼🤛🏻). And a shoutout to future people taking a chance on me—I’ll make you feel proud and honored). My CONTINUED life experiences (whether good or bad, painful or fun — moves me UP a notch in life). And my seemingly endless trial and errors (no regrets!).

By the way, the books that have had a tremendous impact on my life are: Fail Fast, Fail Often and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (re: the “10,000 hour rule” where the human mind masters something after 10,000 hours).
