We had the good fortune of connecting with Davon King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davon, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
It’s hard to say where I’m “from”. most times when people ask I say Virginia because that’s where I did the most time in one place and was the most influential area throughout my life. (7th-12th grade).my mom was in the military so I bounced around quite a bit. Made in Germany, Born in Texas,
And have lived in Kansas, Upstate New York,
Kentucky, and Virginia.

Virginia has had a Major impact on my life due to the melting pot of people and cultures I experienced while living there. I lived in the Yorktown/ Newport News area.
Which is a very interesting place due to the mix of lifestyles and folks you might encounter.

Growing up in a military environment probably has had the biggest impact on who I am today. As An only child to a single mother, I had to step up and figure out how I could make it easier on my mom with her working everyday and long hours at that. Also moving every year from 2nd to 6th grade, I had to learn and adapt to new situations very quickly.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a 25-year-old designer and the sole force behind my brand, which I’ve been building since 2020. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, handmade, and crafted entirely from repurposed materials. I design, cut, sew, and even photograph all of my editorials myself. The biggest challenges have been funding and refining the production of delicate, minimal designs, but the process has shaped my vision and approach. Looking ahead, I plan to expand my team and launch a full collection by 2026, staying true to the craftsmanship and sustainability that define my work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the best of California—starting with the landscapes. We’d hike to the Hollywood Sign for iconic views, explore Solstice Canyon in Malibu, and catch sunset hikes in Griffith Park and Topanga.

We’d hit my favorite flea markets—Silverlake Flea for curated vintage, Melrose Trading Post for a mix of everything, and the Rose Bowl Flea if the timing is right. Nothing beats digging for unique pieces.

Food-wise, we’d do dinner at Jones for amazing Italian in a classic LA spot and stop by Bludso’s Bar & Que for some of the best barbecue in town.

In between, we’d go with the flow—live music, cool bars, beach days—just taking in the energy of the city.
