We had the good fortune of connecting with Deandra Gunthrop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my business the goal was to make women feel absolutely amazing and beautiful. I have been In the fashion world for the past 18 years and decided with my experience I could enhance the experience of beautifying my muses one glamorized look at a time .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What’s sets my work apart from all other stylist? What a great question. What sets my work apart is my amazing clients. As an afrolatina woman . I was given the opportunity to be the it stylist in the Latin soul community. I grew up in Boyle Heights, California which is a predominantly Mexican community where oldies ,funk and Spanish music is a major Pilar in the community. I have been fortunate enough to be trusted and accepted by my artist with styling them while keeping them authentic to themselves while putting my glamorous touch to their already unique and beautiful style.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriend is in town. We are going to paint the town red in a nostalgic way. Growing up there was a burger spot in Boyle heights called Al and Beas which still exist that serves the best burgers. We would also visit the famous Tepeyac restaurant which is known for their amazing mexican food. Take a trip down memory on a Sunday afternoon and head to the Santa Fe Springs swapmeet , where they have the best live performances while we shop and enjoy some.good affordable drinks . To end the amazing visit we would travel to West Hollywood to eat at the trendy restaurant SUR where the food and atmosphere are great.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shout out interview to my beautiful children . As I see my boys watch me hustle and fight for my successes . I know they are proud of their mother . The goal is to teach them the ropes of the business so they can take over the business when it’s time for me to retire.
