We had the good fortune of connecting with Debby Holiday and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debby, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, I started Mocha Music because I wanted to control the music I shared with the world. I love rock n’ roll, dance music, pop, country, soul – you name it ! And I want to create ALL of those styles.
So having my own label gives the opportunity to just – be … me. All of me!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hmmm most proud of always continuing to create. Even when it’s been difficult or seemed futile. Proud to have received countless notes, emails or in person words of appreciation from someone that was moved by my music. I feel like music truly saved my life – more than once. So hearing that I might have in anyway – given anyone a moment of peace – well, that’s definitely a sense of pride..

I’m excited about writing my next record. It’s been a long time coming. My last fully record, Free2B, was a double album.
26 songs – half rock/half dance. I started my latest record about 2 years ago. For some reason, I have run into life’s little humbling stumbling blocks. My goal is to have it ready by early 2025 but, I’m done pushing myself. I’ve written well over 200 songs — it’s ok to breathe for a moment & regroup. (Though, I know this – I still become rather impatient with myself. Ha!)

I believe in … creating & sharing. Your create might be music, or making others laugh or even the art of being a great parent. Be you. Find your gifts & share them. Know you are worth loving. And, so is the person standing next to you. As are the people you’ll never meet. That’s what I want the world to know.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Griffith Park for a walk & gazing at stars at night, The Self Realization Center in Malibu to meditate & stroll, Sierra Madre to breathe in the mountains, Home Restaurant or Figaro in Los Feliz for amazing food coffee & people watching.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father, Jimmy Holiday for always pushing me to write the best song I could – from my heart And to sing from my soul

Del Shores, Jeff Fedak, Levi Kreis & Andrew Briskin
For their support, creativity & friendship.
Maya Angelou, David Bowie & Brandi Carlile for constant inspiration.
