We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dee, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
I wanted to become an entertainer (actor, model, etc) when I was young, which was more than 20 years ago. I competed in International Modeling and Talent Association contest and received some call backs from several agencies. I have some friends who are in Korean entertainment industry. I also wanted to be involved in same industry but I gave up on the way because I was not certain. When I decided not to pursue my dream as an actor, that probably was one of the most difficult decision I have made.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are apparel manufacturer established in 2015. What set us apart from others? Simple. We spend so much time on quality check! We even check the threads and make sure none are sewn incorrectly and iron each and every piece of our merchandise as if it is to be worn right away! I have spent so many nights at my office doing research on designs and checking the goods. There are still so many challenges.. come up with new designs and foresee the trends is very difficult. How do I overcome these challenges? I just do em! Do not like to spend so much time on worrying things!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to my town in Orange County. I live in Anaheim near Disneyland. I would take my friends to downtown Disney or take them down to bar near by. I live in walking distance from the famous Packing District!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am a man of faith. I am who I am because of Lord Jesus. I thank Lord for everything. Secondly, my wife who had been there for me all this time. I thank her the most. Without her, I just couldn’t do many things. We have a son with disability. Things are not easy for us however, we go through things together. I also thank my parents who helped me in everyway. I also thank my sisters, Kyoung Hwa, Phoebe, So hyun. Marcos, who is my employee, friend and family.
Lastly, my son Derris. I love you with all my heart. I wish nothing but the best for you.
