We had the good fortune of connecting with DeJane’ Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeJane’, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My journey into real estate really began in 2018 when I stepped into the world of property management. At the time, I didn’t fully realize it would spark something bigger, but I quickly discovered that I not only enjoyed the work—I was genuinely good at it. That experience showed me that real estate was a space where I could thrive.

By 2019, I had the desire to go further and get my real estate license. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit—growing up, I watched my grandmother, my aunt, and my mom each start their own businesses. That gave me a front-row seat to what it means to build something for yourself and it left a lasting impression on me.

For me, becoming a business owner wasn’t a scary leap—it felt natural. I love the freedom that comes with being my own boss, and I’ve always had the work ethic to match that independence. I’ve started other businesses before real estate—not all of them were meant to be long-term—but I’ve always had the mindset that if I want to do something, I’m going to make it happen. No second guessing. That drive is really what pushed me to start my real estate business and commit ot building it brick by brick.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help people from all walks of life navigate the Los Angeles housing market and achieve their unique real estate goals. Whether that be first time home buyers, second-time buyers, families selling their homes, small investors, large investors- you name it.

What sets me apart is my heart-centered approach. I don’t just sell homes—I guide and advocate for my clients. My brand motto is Love, Language, and Leadership, and every client I work with experiences that in action. Their goals become my goals.

A lot of people see shows like Selling Sunset and assume real estate is glamorous and effortless—that we just tour beautiful homes all day and make millions. Let me be the first to say: that’s not always the reality. Real estate is one of the most demanding career paths I’ve ever pursued—especially in Los Angeles, the land of the million-dollar starter home.

Before you even get your license, you have to complete 100 plus hours of coursework and pass a tough, 150-question state exam. Once you’re licensed, you’re not handed clients or business—you have to build everything from the ground up. Realtors are the CEOs of our brands/businesses. Many of us handle our own marketing, lead generation, client care, scheduling, meetings, research, paperwork and everything in between. It’s an all-encompassing job that demands a lot of time, hustle, and heart.

Over these past few years, I’ve gained deep respect for this industry and for the professionals who’ve built thriving businesses. Contrary to popular belief, those successes don’t come easy. It takes grit, getting comfortable with rejection, skill, tact, dedication and long hours. Most new agents don’t make it through their first year. So no, it wasn’t easy for me—and it still isn’t. But I stay the course because I know my why. My children are my motivation on the good days and the not so good days. I’m building a legacy for them—one that shows them what’s possible with a solid plan, aligned action and faith.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I lead with intention. Every word I say, every commitment I make—I mean it. I am a leader who operates with authenticity and love. I can relate to people from all backgrounds, and I value every client who chooses to work with me. There is no better feeling than seeing someone’s real estate goals come to life and knowing you played a part in helping them build wealth and security. That’s what drives me, and that’s what you get when you work with me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is such a fun question—and honestly kind of hard to answer because Los Angeles is huge, and every neighborhood has its own vibe and charm. I love showing visitors the pockets of LA that are full of culture, community, and great energy.

I’m truly all over the city. Whether it’s Hollywood, Downtown, Inglewood, Leimert Park, Silver Lake, Echo Park—I’ve got favorite spots everywhere. I’ll drive from Beverly Hills to Pasadena like it’s nothing. I’m always down for new experiences and events where I can be around people, connect, volunteer, and just vibe with the community.

If we’re going to the beach, we’re heading to El Matador State Beach in Malibu. It’s a little hike to get down, but it’s worth every step. With the caves, cliffs, and beautiful water, it honestly feels like you’re on a private getaway, not even in L.A. anymore. My favorite beach hands down. I take everybody there.

We’re definitely eating good, too. Tacos are non-negotiable. I also really love the resturaunt Poppy + Rose in the Downtown flower district—it’s such a vibe. You eat some amazing comfort food and then walk across the street to shop for fresh flowers. It’s simple, but it feels so special.

Some of my other favorite L.A. restaurants include Stevie’s Creole Café, Bottega Louie, Dulan’s, Mother Wolf (I went recently and loved every minute of it), and Delilah in West Hollywood for a fun, upscale dinner and drinks night.

And we have to go somewhere for fresh smoothies and juices—Earthbar and Kreation are two of my favorites. Whether it’s a green juice, immunity shot, or a superfood smoothie, I love keeping wellness part of the experience.

I’m big on Leimert Park, too. I’ve spent whole days there—shopping, dilly dallying and just soaking up the culture and energy. And if we’re feeling fancy, we can always do lunch at Crustacean on Rodeo Drive—I’m obsessed with their garlic noodles and love their power lunch menu.

On weekends, you’ll always catch me at a farmers market. I keep a reusable shopping bag in my car because I never know when I’ll want to stop and grab some fresh fruit or local honey. It’s more than shopping—it’s a whole experience with live music, sunshine, and good vibes.

I’m also a huge fan of museums and art galleries. You can catch me at MOCA downtown, LACMA, The Getty or The Huntington Library in San Marino for a peaceful day surrounded by art, gardens, and literature. I’m just all about experiences that feed the soul, and art does that for me.

I love outdoor activities too—Culver City Stairs, Barnsdall Park, or Hancock Park are perfect for getting fresh air with my kids. Blanket, music, snacks—maybe a little drink in my cup (but keep that between us!), while the kids run around.

And let’s not forget movie night at New Beverly Cinema or The Vista—both owned by Quentin Tarantino. It’s fun because they play movies on real film reels, and the selections are always random and nostalgic in the best way.

Lately, I’ve also been spending more time in Pasadena—it’s a beautiful area. When I’m there, I love stopping by Octavia’s Bookshelf, and back in the city, Reparations Club is a favorite for books, gifts, and good energy. Café Triste is another cozy spot I love for wine and conversation in DTLA.

In the summer, Jazz at LACMA on Friday nights is a must. It’s free, outdoors, and full of good music and community. You bring your picnic, lay out a blanket, and just chill under the stars.

There’s never a shortage of things to do in L.A., and you’ll always find me somewhere—connecting with people, volunteering, or discovering something new. That’s the beauty of living here: there’s always something happening, and I’m always ready to explore it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, my family and my friends deserve a huge shoutout. Anything I’ve ever done in life—whether it was joining my high school speech team, singing in the school choir, or running track—my family has always been there, fully behind me, cheering me on.

I’ll never forget when I decided I wanted to be on the speech team in high school. My grandmother, who raised me, would wake up with me at 5 a.m. every Saturday, help me pack my lunch, and drive me to school so I could catch the bus to my meets. That level of dedication and love is something I’ve been blessed to receive my entire life.

To this day, that support hasn’t changed. No matter what I decide to pursue, my family always shows up. They’ve spoken life into me, loved me unconditionally, and guided me through every chapter. I know not everyone has had that kind of foundation—some people grow up being told they can’t or shouldn’t pursue their dreams. I’m grateful that’s never been my experience. My family has always told me I could, and that belief has stayed with me. It’s the reason I move through the world with confidence. I know I have an army behind me, and that love continues to carry me forward.
