We had the good fortune of connecting with Delila Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delila, how do you define success?
First, I define success by accomplishing something that has been placed on my heart. This is an example of being in alignment with what I am suppose to do ordered by a higher power. Success can be defined in many forms, but primarily to me it means achieving something that is outside of my comfort zone,

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a licensed Realtor, serving the state of Virginia. I have been licensed since 2017. Fast forward to 2006, I was hired as a Sr Underwriter, assisting 1st time homebuyers achieve home ownership by offering financial assistance and financial literacy via counseling with a non-profit mortgage company in Connecticut. I maintained this position for 12 years, it was also when my passion for real estate was born. After 12 years of helping on the lending side of the business, I was ready to help on the front end by matching families to their dream home or helping sellers gain wealth by selling their assets. This was definitely a transition but I never allowed fear or the unknow slow me down. I knew I could be a strong resource within my community and share the knowledge from my experience, having a true understanding of what is required to get a loan approved. This is what separate’s me from the rest. My biggest challenge was relocating from CT to VA in 2018, I was not prepared for the culture shock and I assumed I would immediately get right back to business as a Realtor in VA, boy was I wrong. Although I immediately obtained my license in VA it took me over 2 years to really get back to business. I am resilient and today my business is up and running

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting (and I wish should would more often) I would pamper her 1st with a home cooked meal (I enjoy cooking) then I would take her to one of my favorite places, the beach,, We would definitely visit a local Latin restaurant called Havana 59, here we would enjoy a delicious meal followed by a night of salsa dancing. We would also visit Short Pump, a great mall simply because we both appreciate a little shopping. The we would definitely stop at Shingdigz which is a bakery that offers exquisite options of desserts. Followed by an evening at Kabana Rooftop for specialty cocktails and an amazing view of the city. We would definitely take a ride to one of the amazing parks in the city, where she would truly get a sense of history, Richmond VA is a melting pot of history.. To end her visit, I would escort her to some of the neighborhoods and we would view houses because my goal would be to convince her to buy real estate here so I can see her more often.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Id like to acknowledge my dad (may he RIP) even after his passing 5 years ago, I can still hear him in my ear saying these words ” Never Give Up and Always do the right thing” He was a constant reminder that I can do anything I set my heart on and that the world was my oyster. My dad was an example of working hard and pushing forward no matter the trials and tribulations that got in the way. My dad was a very noble man and lead with positivity and I am honored to share that is exactly how I live my life today. In addition he supported everything I attempted even if it was completely foreign to me. My dad’s belief in me will forever hold true and strong in my heart and when I think of success its his face that instantly comes to mind
