We had the good fortune of connecting with Demi Wylde and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Demi, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Mind, Body, Spirit. That’s what balance always boils down to for me. I haven’t always had the best time because any one of these can get out of whack easily, but it’s just important to check in on yourself just as much as you would check in on your friends. Asking yourself “what do I need right now?” is super important. Here’s some examples on how to check in on yourself:

Mind: What am I feeding my brain? Am I spending too much time on social media? Am I following accounts that make me feel good? Am I learning something new daily?

Body: Am I sore or tight? Am I getting outside enough? Am I feeding myself nourishing food? Did I drink enough water? Am I getting enough sleep?

Spirit: Am I doing enough activities I enjoy? Am I spending time with loved ones? Do I feel like I am taking part in something bigger than myself? Am I in touch with the universe? (Or God, or anything you believe in.)

Once you start tapping into the areas that need a little work within yourself, you start feeling much better and are able to get your work done more efficiently (or creatively!)

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a sex writer and educator, I write a blog called A Deviant’s Guide to Sex, I also host a podcast called Hookup Horror Stories with Demi Wylde. Everything I do always has something to do with teaching others about sex and dating with an emphasis on staying safe while doing so. But I like to have fun with it too.

I’ve always dabbled in being an artist also. Ever since I was little, I was always drawing or writing something. Nowadays my creativity (and my humor) has led me into creating memes and collage designs for my brand, that also double as merch. I get inspired by everything, but I love letting my humor lead the way. I love making others laugh, but I also love helping people learn. I believe if you combine humor and knowledge together you get a super winning combination!

Some of the concepts are a bit risqué, naturally, so I’ll just say check my website or social media to find out!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love showing people the city! My favorite bar in the city is Precinct, they have amazing drag shows and even an LGBT strip night, so that would have to be on the list. As for restaurants, Superba Food and Bread in Hollywood is phenomenal, Clifton’s Republic has such an interesting atmosphere with great drinks as well. I also just can’t wait for Summer when I can spend every moment in Santa Monica soaking up the sun on the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have an amazing support group of family and friends so that is absolutely key to any level of success. But honestly I am inspired by every one of my guests who come on my podcast: Hookup Horror Stories. Some of them I’ve only met because of the show, but I learn so much from them. I feel so lucky to have an amazing group of artists, coaches, sexperts, or professionals who have all grown into an amazing set of fulfilling connections.

Special shoutout to my friends J. Maceo and Emanuela Rose, who I worked with on previous projects. They are also amazing humans who I adore and respect.
