We had the good fortune of connecting with Deston Heiner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deston, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My legacy is to create an environment for people to feel like they belong and to completely eliminate that feeling of loneliness.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My only intent and wishes are to bring a positive/healing environment or headspace for people. I struggle with things like depression, anxiety and maybe more psychoactive related things yet to be discovered and I understand these negative feelings very well so with that being said, my goal is to help people that struggle with the same things. Since I started making music in 2017, one mistake I made was not treating it like a business, I’d always just make a song and post it with no marketing strategy and I never really invested in myself. This is kind of where the depression takes a role which then lead to my lack of motivation and being lazy. This was/is definitely not easy, I still struggle from these things but not nearly as bad. I have overcame these issues in ways if self medicating, very little meditation and just keeping a positive attitude can really make a difference in your day. That would probably be the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is just keep your head up because everything you’ve ever wanted will go away if you live under a negative force your whole life. Finally, I really just want the world to remember my intentions were to only heal the broken or to enlighten the people who felt like minorities their whole life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Were eating simple, maybe some In-n-out, five guys or panda express. Were gonna go in the mountains and do some camping. Then were going to finish it off with some time in the studio. I like to keep it simple, maybe we eat out somewhere nice one of the nights.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I want to give thanks to my father, I wouldn’t of been in the places I was and had the experiences I had if it wasn’t for him giving me the best life he could. I’d like to thank my mother and some others in my family for their slight support. Last thing is my friends are/were the biggest support in this musical journey and I’d like to thank one of my closest friends PEECH. He’s been there with me since day 1 along with my buddy Kevin. These two are probably my biggest supporters and I heavily appreciate them for what they’ve done for me in the past few years.
