We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamönd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamönd, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue being an Artist once I realized that it was my purpose. When I was younger, I was hard on myself about wanting to pursue it. I would tell people I wanted to be a writer or a teacher. I think the fear of pursuing my number one goal was really prevalent at that time in my life. I think another factor was the negative stigmas attached to being a full time Artist. Lastly, I knew that I loved music but I wasn’t even close to believing in myself. It wasn’t until I asked for God’s guidance for the last (of many) times and He confirmed that this is what I was supposed to do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that I know sets me apart from others is knowing my purpose. Now that I’m sure this is what I’m here to do and trusting that God will see me through, I’ve developed a new sense of power in my approach.

Currently I’m just excited to release my debut EP! It was most definitely a team effort but I’m relieved to be releasing my first project.

Getting to where I am was both easy and difficult. It was easier to tap into my drive and work ethic because I had two parents who were at every show, they supported me financially and they never made me feel like I couldn’t be serious about pursuing a creative career path. As I mentioned before, I was definitely harder on myself about pursuing this than anyone else ever was. With that being said, one of the challenges I had to overcome was believing in myself. As I started really diving into the performance space, I learned so much about myself. I’m grateful for the things I’ve learned but it also sparked my conscience about the areas I needed to improve. I put serious focus on my relationship with God and I was able to see my worth in music but also in life. It sounds quite simple when I wrap it up in a bow like that but to give some perspective. I’ve been seriously pursuing my career and performing since 2013 and this epiphany happened just recently in 2019.

So that journey came with many lessons and experiences. One big lesson being that patience is key when trying to grow a platform. The next big lesson was that consistency is also very key. I just want the world to know that the heart of anything worth having or true peace is to trust God and allow Him to be the center. These practices will try your strength, your ambition, and your ego but is more than worth the reward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week long trip? Oh wow, okay. Off the top of my head, I’m taking them to California Donuts on the way home from the airport. The donuts are superb and always fresh. I’d leave it at that since they would probably be jetlagged. Next day, we’re going to what I like to call, the ‘Bu (Malibu). They just have the best beaches in Malibu with cool little caves to explore. Since we’re already over that way, we could grab dinner at Honey Kettle in Culver City. Two words: the biscuits, but obviously the chicken as well!
Next day, we’re brunching at Gracias Madre and we’re grabbing dinner at Sage. Two fully vegan restaurants with the most amazingly flavored food.
I gotta show them the best of Long Beach too. Long Beach has so much to offer so we’re definitely going out for a drink and jam at Roxanne’s.
To recover from the night before, we’re heading over to Eco Coffee for the best coffee in SoCal!
On their last day in “LA”, we’re shopping at The Grove, getting lunch at Simply Wholesome, bar hopping in WeHo and hope they don’t miss their flight the next day.

Disclaimer. This is the: “There’s no more Covid-19 or chance of getting COVID” itinerary. If my bestie was actually coming to visit tomorrow, they would get the tour of my backyard.

Well, before the pandemic, some of the most fun activities were hiking and discovering new places across California to hike. I guess I’ll combine road tripping in with that. Jamming and meeting the local creatives. Volunteering in the community. And live shows. Just going to hear live music, concerts and musicals/plays all the time. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom definitely deserves more than a little credit! She saw my gift well before I could and encouraged me to share it for as long as I can remember. I dedicate this shoutout to her for being my number one supporter, fan, encouragement, and never giving up on me when I wanted to give up on myself.
