Meet Diana Dorempz | Actress & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Dorempz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from Venezuela, a beautiful country known for the warmth of its people but also marked by socio-economic and political challenges. Growing up in this environment has had a profound impact on my identity and the path I’ve chosen. Venezuela’s vibrant culture infused my early experiences with a love for music and performance. These artistic exposures instilled in me a deep passion for self-expression and creativity.
It was a pivotal moment in my life when, at the age of 9, I had the opportunity to perform with my dance group on national television. Stepping into a professional studio for the first time, I was captivated by the magic of the medium, and it ignited a deep passion within me to become an artist.
Initially, my training focused on music, but over time, I realized that acting was my true calling. Encouraged by my parents, I took acting lessons alongside my musical pursuits. By the time I turned 16, I was already teaching music to young children and participating in commercial and theater projects on the side.
My decision to leave Venezuela at the age of 19 and embark on a solo journey to Los Angeles was a significant leap of faith. It was driven by a burning desire to pursue acting professionally in a more conducive environment. Living in Los Angeles, I became acutely aware of the challenges and stereotypes I faced as a Latina actress. However, these challenges have fueled my determination to explore the production side of the industry, where I could challenge these limitations and create my own artistic path.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I aim to live without regrets, knowing that I’ve poured my heart into every experience. My journey into acting has been both challenging and immensely rewarding. It’s a flame within me that constantly yearns for more. As a creator, I understand the power of representation and the importance of telling stories that celebrate our diversity. I believe that our uniqueness is what makes us special, and we should embrace it in our storytelling.
Over time, I’ve evolved and grown. I’m not the same 19-year-old who arrived in LA with two suitcases and a dream. I’ve transformed my passion into a profession, taking it with the seriousness it deserves. I’ve dedicated my life to this career, understanding that every year spent away from my family must be a sacrifice worth making. Whether it’s here in LA or elsewhere in the world, I know I’ll always find my way back to art because when you dedicate your life to doing what you love, it reflects in your work.
Recently, I’ve been busy with various projects. “Mastering Rejection” is a one-woman show I wrote and performed, earning a place in the finals at the Brisk Festival in Santa Monica. This piece delved deep into themes of personal growth and empowerment.
Right now, I’m working on an exciting documentary about women’s freedom of choice. We’re in the planning phase and raising funds to bring this project to life.
I’ve also been teaching acting to Spanish-speakers. I’ve designed a 6-week program, which is now being offered by a local community college. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out for more information about upcoming sessions.
Additionally, I continue to produce my own podcast called “AudioSpanish,” available on most platforms. This is an exciting personal hobby that allows me to showcase my writing skills and create a fun space for learning about various topics.
And I’m particularly proud of my involvement in projects like “Plástico,” a film that recently premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, where it earned a special jury mention. This political satire addresses the current situation in Venezuela.
There are more exciting opportunities ahead, and I hope to share them with you soon!
The key lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of resilience, authenticity, and the power of representation.
I want to thank Voyage LA for giving us a platform to share our stories. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start with a cultural visit to the city’s renowned museums, where we’d immerse ourselves in stunning art collections and views of the city. Then, I’ll treat them to a taste of my Venezuelan roots with homemade arepas and empanadas. We’ll dive into LA’s diverse neighborhoods. In the evenings, we’ll catch a live show and experience LA’s entertainment scene. Of course, we can’t miss a hike in Griffith Park for those iconic Hollywood Sign views. And no LA trip is complete without some beach time, so we’d spend a day relaxing on a hidden Malibu beach and take a leisurely walk along the Santa Monica Pier. Los Angeles always has something going on, so there’s no shortage of fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several individuals I would like to dedicate a shoutout to. Firstly, my parents, who have been my unwavering support system and champions of my passion since the very beginning. My parents are my foundation. They taught me always to pursue my goals, to make the impossible possible, to be determined, and not to let adversity shake me. Thanks to them, I am here today. Next, my dear husband, he has been my pillar of strength during my journey in Los Angeles. We essentially grew together in this new chapter of my life. He became my anchor in an industry that can be incredibly demanding. He possesses an intimate understanding of my highs and lows, consistently encouraging me to maintain a positive mindset even when faced with uncertainty. I’m profoundly grateful to have him as my life partner.
Finally, I’d like to recognize the global artistic community that serves as a constant source of inspiration and motivation. This encompasses individuals within the industry who’ve paved the path for artists like myself, who have not only shattered stereotypes but have also been champions of cultural diversity and inclusivity within the entertainment realm.
