We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The classic “Do or do not. There is no try” by Master Yoda. It’s one of the quotes I use with my brand because there shouldn’t be an in-between when you are wanting to do something. You either do it and see what it results or you don’t do it and forever wonder what could have happened

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Land of Joshua Trees: A Palmdale Original is a brand bringing awareness for Joshua Trees and the city of Palmdale, CA. It was created on January 1, 2018 (new year, new brand) as a creative outlet. I wanted to build something representative of my roots and make it into a brand the people of this city would be proud to wear locally or wherever they go.

It was of course rough in the beginning; it was only an Instagram page with our logo and some photos of Joshua Trees. I had previous work experience with graphic design and social media marketing so I would test out designs to see what would catch people’s eyes. I would build off the interest and make sticker designs (which I would recommend starting out with because it is not too expensive to make and it won’t take up too much space in your life). After our engagement grew, we built out the shirt designs so people can rock their shirts all over Palmdale.

The main goal of the brand is to be a pinnacle of style for our desert city.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely start out at Transplant Brewing Co. in Palmdale, CA; they are my favorite brewery in town and it is such an eclectic vibe in there. The brews are so good too! Then we would go over to Dave’s Hot Chicken. “Never get just the tenders; you won’t get the same experience” – my friend from Lancaster, CA. After that, we would hang out in the parking lot of the Sam’s Club/Kohl’s parking lot just talking and watching the stars.

The next day, we would go to MOAH museum on the BLVD in Lancaster, CA to see the latest installation. Then for lunch, stop by Lucky Luke’s and of course get their monthly dessert.

The next day, its Drytown baby! We’d go on all the slides, chill in the lazy river, and get drenched by the water bucket.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my family who comes along for the ride and were the FIRST spokesmodels! Shoutout to the homegirl from Palmdale who did something so impossible and I will NEVER stop thanking them for being a part of the foundation of the brand. And shout out to all my day ones and friends I have met through the brand who support me and who I will always support as well!
