Meet DIANE DE MESA | Singer Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with DIANE DE MESA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DIANE, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I’m a hardworking person. I know that success does not happen overnight, so it takes a lot of perseverance and hardwork to attain your dreams and passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am a singer/songwriter based from the Northern California Bay Area. Performing makes me “feel alive” and I feel like I can express my emotions and free all the sentiments that I feel inside through music. It is a stress-relief and outlet, and very therapeutic for me. Whenever I sing, all of my troubles and worries go away.  What sets me apart from others is I have self-produced 5 albums [“Fly Away” (2011), “Heartstrings” (2014), “Only for you” (2016), “With Love” (2019)], and the latest one released this year, (“My Everything” (2022). I have written all of my original songs. I am also the lead vocalist for the acoustic band: ‘Diane de Mesa and the LSS Sessionists’. Aside from being a singer-songwriter and a musician, I am also a broadcaster/host/VJ. I own a Facebook Live page (DDM Studio Live) wherein I host a weekly livestream show, “Notes from the heart”, wherein I feature my songs and other artists’ songs and interview them regarding their music and careers.

Being an independent artist is not easy, since there is no record label that backs me up. I have to do all of my promotions, marketing and everything. But with determination, hard work, and perseverance I was able to successfully release all of my albums. I am proud to say that my Spotify has reached more than 1 Million streams for my “Fly Away” album. It also has been an honor to have bagged multiple awards from prestigious Award Giving bodies in the Philippines as an “International Multimedia Artist” from Aliw Awards, FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts & Sciences), PMPC Star Awards for Music, ATC International, and multiple song nominations from the distinguised Awit Awards last year.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would take my best friend to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Cannot miss the landmark of San Francisco. I am also a homebody who loves to cook, so I would cook us a meal and maybe do a picnic along one of the beaches of Santa Cruz. Maybe also do a wine tasting in Napa Valley. And just do a shopping stroll in one of the malls here in the Bay Area, California.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to the people who have collaborated with me and have contributed to the growth of my music. To my bandmates (Greg Felix, Audy Felix, Jason Marrero), my musical arranger (Elmer Blancaflor) and my manager (Michael Villanueva).
