We had the good fortune of connecting with Dianna Mateos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dianna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe taking risks is an important part of our lives in anything that we want to do. If you set your mind and time to a specific goal, nothing can stop you from being successful and making your dreams a reality. The role taking risks has played in my life as a content creator has been immense. Starting off with my social media, I was hesitant and would be worried about what people would say about me, if they would think it’s dumb or laugh at me. Soon after I learned that none of that should matter as my goals are mine and others opinions don’t matter. I took the risk to just start regardless of any criticism, I began creating content on YouTube with my husband, without much knowledge of the platform but learned along the way. Soon after, we branched out to creating content in our own TikTok and Instagram accounts. That risk taken in the beginning is the most important because had I never decided to just start, I would not have been able to find my niche, accomplish the things I have done and worked with brands I had only dreamed of such as Kay Jewelers, Adidas, McDonald’s, Doritos, YSL, JCPenney Beauty, etc.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that sets me apart from others is to truly be myself as there is only one of me. Nobody will be exactly the person that I am, which makes my content different. I have gotten to where I am today in social media reaching over a combined of 300,000+ followers by plenty of hard work and never giving up. It does take a lot of belief in yourself because it won’t always be an upward curve. There will be ups and downs, times where your content won’t do well, you won’t receive positive feedback, etc. However, that is where you are barely getting started and push through it to reach your goals. One must stay focused, work through those challenges and remember our purpose and why we started in the first place. I want the world to be inspired by my videos, have a good time and know that I am just like anybody else that watches my content. I want to show that anything in life is possible if one sets their mind to it. Anybody can be successful but only those who are willing to work for it will be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the city I live in which is Los Angeles. There is always something different we can do here and there is plenty to explore. There is a great variety of food here from Mexican, Salvadoran, American, Mediterranean etc and the great thing is they are all close by to each other. We can also hang out in the beach, go to the mountains, go on a hike, go to the park and go to Disneyland. It all depends on the type of vibe we are feeling.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A person that I would like to dedicate a shoutout to is my husband that has been by my side every step of the way in this journey. Anytime that there is content to be created whethere it be at home, where I need to travel, or where I need extra props or backgrounds, he is there with me to film and give feedback on my content. We are a team which allows us to work more efficiently and provide better content all around.
