We had the good fortune of connecting with Dianna Stolpp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dianna, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am a American-Latina. My mother bounced around from Mexico to US for years throughout her single life and as well as after getting married to my biological father. Their marriage ended up in a divorce and we took roots in Southern California. While in High School, my mom noticed I had a talent for hair and makeup. I struggled academically, fortunately for me at that time a lot of schools offered ROP where one could learn a trade. I started attending Gino Robair Cosmetology School. I attended high school half day then went to my trade school. I ended up getting my cosmetology license at 19 years old. I later furthered my education in makeup by attending MUDD Makeup in Burbank. I learned the ins and outs of makeup for print, film, and beauty. After finishing school I got a job with a lady that worked with brides and was looking for an assistant. I immediately fell in love with doing weddings! I loved the energy, I loved being a part of such a special day, I loved everything about it! Including the stress of it! hahaha! Working a wedding is where I met my husband of now 16 years. I was booked to do his sisters wedding. It was love at first sight! I eventually had to start Bella Artistry in 2006 because the woman I was working with moved away. She taught me a lot! It was scary going out on my own at first but eventually I got the hang of it. Fast forward, now its a revolving door. I recently started my own makeup line to offer my brides as well as anyone else. I named it after my two girls. Helayna and Isabella Hela!Bella Makeup.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Its funny because a lot artist don’t have the business part of it down too much. I love the business part of it! I love connecting with my brides, writing up contracts, setting up the schedules etc… I also love working with my different artist. They are all so talented! One of the many things that set us apart from other companies is that it is not just myself. We have a team and we can accommodate pretty much any size party or multiple events. We have contracts that we send to our brides so they know we are a legit company and not just some random makeup artist that is going to cancel on them the day of the wedding. Believe me, we have had to rescue some brides that have been in that situation. We are very professional and punctual and we will work hard to make your wedding day the best ever!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the beach and I love the city night life! I also love going to museums. The Ghetty Museum, or LACMA are a couple of my favorite places! Gosh it’s so hard to say. With this Covid I feel like I haven’t been out in ages!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a big hug and shout out to my mother! Having kids of my own I see how important it is to recognize their talents and to help them build on those gifts. She saw my gift and helped them to flourish! I also have to give my Husband a shout out for being so supportive in my career. I have to work a lot on weekends and he’s always been so good with being a Fammy on the weekends. I love you babe! My kids are also so encouraging!
