Meet Dierrah McInnis | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dierrah McInnis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dierrah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea to start my business came from a conversation I had with my mom during my senior year of high school. I was preparing to get ready for college, and she told me, “Dierrah, I think you should find something you can do on your own time and control your own schedule.”
Once college started, I picked up a camera and began taking pictures. That’s really how it all started. Throughout college, I did it on and off, but after I graduated, I started taking it more seriously. I put in the time and effort to actually grow my business, and it’s been going ever since.

What should our readers know about your business?
Oh Snap Photography is a photography company that takes pride in bringing a client’s vision to life and making them feel their absolute best.
The photography industry is predominantly male-dominated. Being a woman in this space is something I use to my advantage. I pay close attention to the details, whether it’s fixing hair, offering clothing suggestions, or simply creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and seen.
What I’m most proud of is the growth I’ve seen in my business from Day 1 to where it is now. I’ve gotten to this point through determination, dedication, and maintaining the mindset of always being a student.
It hasn’t been easy, but with hard work, it’s absolutely possible. Not every session will be perfect, not every photo will turn out exactly how you envisioned, and not every client will be the easiest to work with. But the key is to give yourself grace and keep pushing forward regardless of the challenges.
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stay focused on your own journey. Don’t compare your current chapter to someone else’s years of experience. I’ve learned to stay patient during the waiting seasons and trust the process until the breakthrough comes. In the beginning, I barely had any bookings—until one maternity shoot became a turning point. After that, I started getting booked in ways I never imagined possible.
What I want the world to know is this: if God gives you the vision, He’s already equipped you with the tools to bring it to life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Mississippi, I’d take her to all of my favorite restaurants! If she came in on a Friday, we’d start by going to my favorite Mexican spot. My family and I go to this restaurant every Friday. We’d also do a little shopping at the Renaissance or find a fun activity like painting or something creative. Mississippi definitely has more food spots than activities, so we’d probably be eating a lot—haha!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to give a shoutout to God—because without Him, none of what I do would be possible!
Second, I want to thank my parents for their unwavering support, constant push, encouragement, vision, and so much more.
Third, thank you to my family and friends for always supporting my gift.
And lastly, a big thank you to my mentor for the training, support, and all the opportunities to grow and use my gift!
