We had the good fortune of connecting with Dionisio Burgos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dionisio, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I choose a creative career because I felt free, I was able to express myself and express my ideas through my writing and through my photographer. It was also a coping mechanism for my depression instead of bottling everything up I was able to write it out. I was able to take a picture.

It was also great to tap into that part of myself to bring life a visual concept, the feeling knowing that you are creating something that’s going to impact someone or group of people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My names Dionisio everyone calls me Donnie or Don or just Lumi , I started luminous Views during 2019 as something todo when I was injured to help keep my mind moving. I saw camera on Facebook market and I picked it up, most of my friends are music artist so it was nice To have something to do well in the studio with them I never really saw the bigger picture, but everybody around me saw what I was capable of doing.

So I focused every minute of every day and how to become a better photographer watching YouTube, interning at studios And reaching out to people just so I can practice. it was extremely hard because I didn’t know anything about Photography let alone how to run a business, But I knew I loved the impacted and reactions I would get from putting my work out there.

Right after I establish myself as a photographer, I started getting bookings and I was always shocked I was doing this for fun and really wasn’t confident enough in my skills in myself, but I trusted the process.

I was always great with people and making connections, so I use that as a tool to grow Luminous views

I went from 1 photo shoot a week to 3 photoshoots a day just by staying consistent and never lifting my head up and seeing what everybody else was doing. I became one of the busiest photographers in Rhode Island accumulating 1100 in three years in three years

While growing my photography business on my downtime, I did a lot of writing, and I use writing as a coping mechanism to express my feelings, my anxiety and my depression, I always knew I like to write, especially poetry
I was always a hopeless romantic and hopelessly, hopeful with every situation in my life.

So I started piecing together my poems and I would share it with friends and family. one thing lead to another and “ Broken Promises empty Pill Bottles “ came to life Something I am extremely proud of.

It was challenging, finding myself along the way, breaking generational curses, and healing with every smile. Every person I came into contact I was able to make a connection, and I think that’s what separates me from every other photographer. It was more than just money and gaining following. It was, how can I make an impact on somebody’s life and make this experience memorable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely start our morning right by going to The West End Diner in providence then probably go shopping one of my favorite places to go is a local book store called Symposium Books in downtown , take a trip to thayer Street and grab some bubble tea then definitely more shopping. Catching a movie or going to Dave and Busters and then I’m a sucker for Italian food so definitely ending my night at Marchetti’s in cranston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My Wife/ Best friend Nikaury who trusted my vision when it was all a dream My children
