Meet Divos | Drag Artist & Award Winning Caesar Salad Aficionado

We had the good fortune of connecting with Divos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DIVOS, what do you attribute your success to?
Being myself! DIVOS is the amalgamation of everything that I have experienced in my life and the culmination of all of my skills. I am most successful when I ignore societal stigma and standards and be as silly as I please and as nerdy as I desire. I combine elements of fashion by referencing occupations, decades, color and fantasy while always remembering to balance glamour with comedy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work ethic allows me to transform my art into my business. So far this year I have lectured the history and significance of drag at UCLA (the number 1 public university in the world), covered WeHo Pride for the official Snapchat Creators account, opened up for one of America’s Drag Superstars (Symone), debuted and produced my podcast TwinkTwankTwunk, launched my small art business at the world’s largest drag convention – RuPaul’s Drag Con, completed a Pride Series that ignited and excited my community and premiered my first WeHo party, B-Siders, at The Bayou! DIVOS is the name on everybody’s lips!!!
I got here by focusing my energy on myself and what I love, and most importantly by collaborating with the other incredible (mostly Queer) artists in my community. I am nothing without my collaborators! Izzy Deadyet, Acacia Forgot, Mary Juana Blunt, Luny, Troy C Ford, Missile Anneous, Starrland, Shone Co, Anyaliza, Sanjul Sajeev, JulesDrawz, Zach Lewis, Makena Kane, Ava Alexiades and the B-Side Drags. From wigs to outfits to illustrations to editing to performance support, it takes a village. I give as much as I can back to the Queer community and they give me so much more than I could ever hope for in return.
There is so much stigma with drag, it was not easy to become DIVOS but today I am the most confident and the hottest that I’ve ever been! So it’s easy now ;)! I’ve learned that all that matters is giving your 100% and being as kind as possible to others, everything else is out of your control.
I want the world to get excited and ready to celebrate my art for a long time! I can’t wait to show you what I can do 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start at the Venice Canals for some glamour shots and then transition into beach time at Malibu. For food we would snag some ramen at Killer Noodle in Sawtelle and then a walk through Santee Alley (the fashion district) downtown to really see the heart of the city. End off the day with some poke or KBBQ and a night walk at The Grove and baby, that’s magic!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Laylah Amor! This legendary West Hollywood Queen constantly dedicates her time and energy to elevating other Queer artists. And also everyone in my life who is their most authentic self in any and all moments.
