We had the good fortune of connecting with Dj Vixen K and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dj Vixen K, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I took interest in pursuing artistic or creative career because I wanted to have a career that didn’t feel like work. I knew my why’s from an early age. I grew up around music, dj, and party planners so it was embedded in me that I go a route that not only doesn’t feel like work but that also puts a mile on people’s face.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up I knew the word vixen mostly associated with the phrase “Video Vixen.” These were the girls that stood out in the music videos, the ones that turned heads. For some reason I always loved the word and I believed I could be the “Vixen” so I decided to make Dj Vixen K. The K stands for Kailee… of course I had to include my name some how.

What sets me apart is that I’m always willing to take chances, stepping outside of my comfort zone has never really been hard for me. I go into a gig and I take note of the crowd. Being versatile is one of my biggest strengths. I make sure that no matter the event everyone gets a piece of the pie.

I got where I am today by networking, and I honestly love it because I have met so many dope people just by shaking hands and telling them my name. It was never easy, but with my mom pushing and encouraging me to speak to folks it became natural.

Nothing is ever really easy, unless you’re born with it. I had to learn that a lot is not given. It’s simply earned, and you earn it by believing in yourself and going for what you want.

I want the world to know that Dj Vixen K will be worldwide soon! She will show out and she will be known!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to Cali, if the sun is out, then anything is possible. We would start our morning getting breakfast and drinks from The Pan or maybe even brunch from Fixins. Both of these spots offer delicious menus, and on weekends, they feature DJs spinning great music. Next, we would make our way to Leimert Park Village, which is a staple in South LA. It’s always jumping on the weekends, from the drum circles to the neighborhood vendors and entrepreneurs, we would have a good time. Next, we would either hit upon Santa Monica Pier or Venice Beach, we could chill on the sand or walk the boardwalks. I would possibly mention Hot Wings Cafe as an option for lunch, they have some of the best hot wings in Cali. To end the night, we would see what’s popping Downtown. There is always a nightclub or a bar that is live on weekends

There have been so many amazing people and companies that I have met & worked with over the past 5 years. I want to say Thankyou to them for taking a chance on Vixen K and trusting her to bring life and laughs to their events.
