We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to work on something that was easy, lucrative and fun. Filming was always something I did as a kid and teenager, so it was only fitting to pick the camera back up again after college. If I could be financially free by creating videos for brands and restaurants, it was a no brainer to start.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m most proud of the work done for my local small businesses. During covid, a handful of them had to close down, but we still managed to get content out whether it was through zoom or setting up their phone on a tripod. When things finally got back to normal our trust was stronger and easier to get projects moving again. I want the world to know that whatever challenges come our way, we’ll get the project done and you’ll be satisfied.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For hiking, the Claremont loop. For lunch, Haven City Market in Rancho Cucamonga, for dinner downtown Claremont. Definitely head to the mountains, specifically Wrightwood, CA. Then head down to laguna for some surfing. Maybe stop over at Disneyland in Anaheim and finish the week off camping in Joshua Tree.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my beautiful wife, Heather. When we first started dating, she was living in Dubai while I was back home in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. Our long distance relationship lasted two years, until she eventually moved back home.

During the time spent away from one another, I would create short films that helped ease the pain of not seeing each other for so long. It was a creative expression of love, baby. Films of myself cutting the grass, baking a cake, anniversaries and of course, Valentines Day. This gave me the opportunity to practice my craft and develop a style in my editing that I still use today.
