We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what inspires you?
I would say that I am inspired to inspire and motivate others to be more than what life presents to them. We are all dealt with unfortunate experiences and circumstances but I also see it as a story opportunity to inspire others that need to know that they can rise above it and achieve something great.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I have been doing music my whole life but professionally for over three years. I started creating music for myself but then I recently started writing for others as well. It has been a great experience writing for different genres and artists which has allowed my growth and knowledge as an artist and songwriter. It has also allowed me to engage with well known producers and artists as well which has advanced my music career further than I could ever imagine. It was not really hard to get where I am but it was just something that I could not take lightly. It is a everyday thing that you have to work hard at. The challenges were getting someone to believe and work with you but that just meant that you have to ask questions, humble yourself and be prepared for any opportunity that comes your way. When it came to acting, that just came out of nowhere as I was asked to be an extra which led to me receiving my first casting credit in the television series A House Divided. I look to further my acting career this year through movies and television series while incorporating music into production. The lesson that I learned the most is to never stop working and be better than the day before.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well if someone would come visit me in the Los Angeles area, I usually suggest Mr. Fries and L.A. Prime which are my favorite restaurants to go to. I really do not go out too much especially since the pandemic has stopped that but I usually spend most of my time at home or at the studio. The studios that I would reccommend to people is the Ultrium Studios, Myguy Mars studio and Mixed by Cristal studio. They all have been great resources with great experience that will bring quality to all the music you want to create. I also love going to the beach to clear my head and enjoy life outside of my busy world.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to say that I have been inspired by the people that have taken time out of their schedule to mentor and share their knowledge to further my career in music and acting. A few people that come to mind that have been mentors are actor Lawerence Hilton Jacobs, producers Chris “Big Duke” Mallory and Lamar “Myguy Mars” Edwards. I also believe other artists such as Jrome Dillard and King Dreams have shown that hard work and dedication can get you to wherever you need to go in life.
