We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorian Carriere and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dorian, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor of my success is the passion I have for what I do. I don’t just sell jewelry, I design and create the jewelry. Sometimes I can’t go to sleep because I have an idea in my head and I know it has to come out. It’s makes me excited every time I can bring one of my designs to life. That helps with the connection I have with my customers. I love being bold and original, so I incorporate that into my designs, and I share a piece of me with everyone who wears my pieces!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that I design and create the jewelry myself! I come from a very creative family. Growing up in New Orleans I would see so much creativity around me, I just knew creating art was going to be for me. This journey was not easy and I can say that I’m still growing into the creator and business woman I want to be. Financially, I have yet to be able to do jewelry exclusively, but that is my goal. You can ask any creator and business owner it is stressful on all parts but the love for what you do keeps you going everyday. Continue to be who you are and don’t let other peoples success stop you from doing what you love. Dc originals is not just a brand it is who I am. I want the world to know that we’re not another Generic jewelry brand but we are big and bold and each piece is made to make each person standout and feel beautiful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly I’m still new to LA I’m originally from New Orleans so my fiancé and I tried this place in Van Nuys called Moms Haus and we enjoyed it a lot. I love southerned style cooking so I’m always looking for great places to eat. But the one place I’ve probably eaten the most while living in LA is Delicious Pizza. I love the vibes and the pizza is really good.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to recognize my amazing parents ( Dawn and Conrad Carriere) and my family. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. My family has been my biggest supporters, and they encouraged me to follow my dreams and make them a reality. For that I can’t say thank you enough.
