Meet Dr. Alexis Daniels DC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Alexis Daniels DC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Alexis, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
From a young age I was drawn to nature and holistic practices, yet experienced a humble appreciation for modern medicine. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts and spent much of my time outside in nature, crafting and convincing my parents into yet one more animal – cats, dogs, lizards, chickens, bunnies and horses to name a few. As a young child, I also experienced both my parent’s battles with cancer. At the time, I wasn’t old enough to grasp the severity. Instead, I witnessed some of the best oncology care in the country living close to Boston’s top hospitals and through my parents own journeys, I observed them embrace mindfulness, prayer and healthy living. This embracing of both science and nature, rather than choosing one or the other, was all I knew. It greatly shaped my own journey in healthcare and built the foundation for an openness to functional medicine and energy medicine.
In my studies I was taught that science is the gold standard, but after years of schooling, a doctorate, hundreds of hours of continuing education, and years working with patients, I began to see that at the root of the most transformational healing I witnessed, was nature. The plants, the elements, the seasons, the sun and moon and one’s own energy were really all that was needed. While I still use modern science and labs to support me in understanding the landscape of each patient’s terrain. I began to rely deeply on plants, nourishing foods and energy to guide the path of healing. What started as a hobby, capturing the essences of plants and sacred spaces in tincture, has woven itself into the core of my work. These subtle energies are infused into the space I hold for patients and the energy medicine I transmute. The formulations I recommend for patients are modern day potions, compromised of what is needed in that moment to catalyze change. I’ve come to observe that healing is change, a journey, cyclical, powerful and completely unique to each person.
I believe that medicine comes in many forms. The traditional Western – life saving kind, as well as the medicine from a hug, a beautiful song or a kiss of sunlight on a warm summer day. There is so much medicine in nature around us, but more importantly, there is so much medicine within us. Over the last almost 20 years I have developed a practice that infuses the best of modern science with a deep weaving of the natural elements and subtle energies that are also profoundly healing. Through working one on one with patients, my holistic roots have grown and I feel and see more within the human body than is described in text books. The energy medicine I have learned is not taught by institutes, but rather it is a distillation of observations, patterns, and experiences. It is without dogma or protocols and is organic and dynamic. I am medically intuitive, reading the energy of the body, but at my core I am a guide and a teacher. I don’t just hear patient’s stories and symptoms, I also feel their words, their pain, their history. Over many years I developed my own techniques of using energy to support the healing process. However, my greatest teachers have always been my patients. At the root of my work is a listening to my patient’s own wisdom, their unique goals and journey.

What sets us apart is our ability to bridge science and nature. We offer our services through the lens of Functional Medicine, a natural approach to identifying the root of symptoms. Comprehensive labs guide us to create personalized lifestyle, neutriceuticals and dietary recommendations. We offer our therapies through the lens of Energy Medicine, a wisdom based in ancient traditions and a deep connection to the natural world. Herbal remedies, mindbody techniques, breathwork and intuitive insights are a few of the modalities we infuse into treatments. There are many businesses that offer Functional Medicine and many that offer energy healing, but few that can weave both into treatments.
I started my business in 2006 dropping flyers door to door in Topanga, networking at Chamber of Commerce meetings and hosting health talks for anyone that would listen. I’m so proud to say that today my business is 100% word-of-mouth, built on years of therapeutic results, community and the most wonderful patients. Every step is hard – from running a business to managing chronic cases – but it is equally rewarding to have helped so many people over the years. My greatest lesson is that I’ve failed so many times, I no longer worry about it. Each time I failed, I found a way forward and with that, I built confidence. It’s not that I’m unafraid to fail; it’s that I trust my ability to find a solution.
Being at near capacity with current patients, I have been working on other ways to share my knowledge. I will be launching a custom supplement later this summer that I am so excited about. It’s truly my life’s work in a capsule. The custom supplement is a daily formula personalized through a short quiz that aligns with your unique biology and health goals. It blends clinically effective nutrients with a touch of intention — turning your wellness routine into a ritual that supports both body and energy.
With my word-of-mouth practice, I somehow escaped needing a website and social media presence. But preparing to launch the supplement pushed me to finally create both. What has been the most fun, is creating the visual expression of my brand. The photos are from my back yard and neighborhood where I work with native pants and the flowers are from my garden. All of it is authentic, all of it is me. It tells my story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you can’t tell, I love nature and anything off the beaten path. Think morning hikes, long days soaking in the sun at Zuma and dress codes that embrace beach hair and sandals – like Cholada on PCH. While you can’t miss the LA staples like a Dodger’s game, Rodeo drive, Hollywood Boulevard or the Getty, I love the understated sights in LA. Endless Summer, LA edition would be my dream recommendation – a beach hopping tour from LA to Ventura – Venice Beach, Topanga Beach, Zuma, El Matador, Leo Carrillo, Staircase, County Line.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people, books and ideas that have foraged the path for me to follow to this point. However my functional medicine mentor, Dr. Datis Kharrazian and my energy medicine mentors Tracy James and Deborah Hanekamp have had the greatest impact over the years.
