We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Gerhard van Wyk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Gerhard, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
To be self sufficient, adaptable and to create your own opportunities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Dr Gerhard van Wyk currently work on the development of marketing and sales strategies for a large chemical organisation in South Africa focusing on growth and the alignment of company activities and resources to grow the business. Gerhard has more than twenty-five years working experience (marketing and sales) in the petrochemical and chemical sectors having been involved in the identification of growth opportunities and the development of marketing and sales strategies to unlock sustainable growth. Gerhard`s area of expertise includes Marketing and Sales Management with specific focus on Business to Business marketing and Franchising. He is also an accomplished author of several academic and other articles on marketing, B2B and franchising. His publications appear regularly in local newspapers, magazines and on social media platforms. He has featured on several radio and television programmes discussing marketing, sales, advertising, personal goal setting and the value of having a business plan. Author of the treatise: “So What is Your Plan?”
Being a part time academic Gerhard Lectures Marketing and Sales Management to MBA students and act as supervisor (for various academic institutions) during the creation and completion of research projects – dissertations. He has experience working in complexed marketing environments and has previously worked for the Petroleum industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To a Romancing the Bean in Burbank, to the art district in NOHo and definitely the Warner Brothers Studios.
