Hi Dr. Lori, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business came from a desire to create a med spa that felt personal and tailored to young professionals looking for subtle, natural-looking aesthetic enhancements. The idea sparked when I moved to South Park, a vibrant, up-and-coming area in downtown LA filled with people looking for services that aligned with their desire to age gracefully without looking overdone.

My journey into aesthetics began during my residency in 2012, offering Botox and fillers part-time. This side project evolved into Med Beauty, a mobile business that catered to the growing demand for convenient aesthetic treatments through services like “Botox parties.” Despite the success and fulfillment this venture brought, juggling it alongside my job at a hospital became increasingly challenging.

By 2015, inspired by South Park’s community, I envisioned creating a dedicated med spa. This vision became a reality in 2018 when I found the perfect location. Transitioning from a mobile operation to a brick-and-mortar office was motivated by the need for a more efficient, professional setting that could better serve my clients and allow for growth!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At MedBeautyLA, we pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive range of medical aesthetics and medical-grade skincare services that go beyond what typical med spas provide. Our services include injectables, but we distinguish ourselves with medical-grade facials, laser resurfacing, and specialized treatments for acne scarring and pigmentation issues—services with a level of intensity that is typically only found in a doctor’s office setting.

What truly sets us apart is the boutique med spa experience we offer. Our approach is highly personalized, with a close-knit team of medical professionals and aestheticians working together to ensure comprehensive care. From external skincare to dietary advice and aesthetic enhancements like Botox and fillers, we cover all bases to ensure our clients’ needs are fully met.

In addition to our wide array of services, MedBeautyLA is also excited to offer specialized bootcamps targeting specific skincare concerns. These bootcamps are designed for conditions like acne, acne scarring, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation, and we even offer a bridal bootcamp for brides-to-be. Our bootcamps emphasize a comprehensive, staged approach, combining various non-surgical procedures for optimal results. This initiative is part of our continual effort to develop new programs that cater to the diverse needs of our clients, ensuring that we not only meet but exceed their skincare goals with tailored, innovative solutions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ve got a fantastic neighborhood here in South Park, Downtown LA. Whenever friends come to visit, I love showing them around and hitting up some of my favorite spots in town. Here are a few must-visit places:

First off, we’ll swing by MedBeautyLA for a special salt facial—something you can only experience at our location.

Then, we’ll head to Cabra Los Angeles, a rooftop Peruvian joint with amazing views of downtown.

Right around the corner, there’s Sauna Lab, where we they have infrared saunas and red light therapy for a rejuvenating experience.

And to cap off the day, we’ll unwind at Prank, the local hotspot known for its laid-back vibe and great drinks.

If I were to dedicate my shoutout to someone, it would definitely be to the remarkable female surgeons I’ve had the privilege to work with throughout my journey. Each of them has inspired me in unique ways, imparting wisdom not just on succeeding as a medical provider, but also on thriving as a businesswoman in a field that’s traditionally male-dominated. Their collective advice has been a beacon of guidance, empowering me to navigate both the medical and entrepreneurial aspects of my career with confidence and resilience.
