Meet Dr. Maria Rosa Vento-Gomez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Maria Rosa Vento-Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Maria Rosa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
With over three decades in healthcare, I’ve always been driven by a desire to care for people. Starting Beauty Hub HNS was a way to bring that nurturing spirit into the beauty world—creating a space where wellness, self-care, and confidence all meet. I wanted to build a hub that wasn’t just about beauty treatments, but about helping people feel whole, seen, and cared for.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beauty Hub HNS is the product of passion, purpose, and a bold leap of faith. After more than 37 years in healthcare, I chose to follow a lifelong dream rooted in beauty and wellness. I became a licensed esthetician, nail technician, and most recently, a licensed cosmetologist. My vision was to create a space that was not just about external beauty, but one that nourishes the soul—a hub where every person feels welcome, respected, and empowered.

What sets us apart is the way we blend clinical-level care with luxurious beauty services. My healthcare background taught me the importance of safety, cleanliness, and individualized care. That translates into everything we do—from our facials and waxing services to nail treatments and beyond. Our team is culturally inclusive and bilingual, which allows us to serve a diverse community with heart and understanding.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Going back to school while raising a family, juggling multiple licenses, and launching a business later in life came with challenges. But I pushed through because I believed in my purpose. I leaned on my faith, my family, and my inner fire. I wanted to prove that it’s never too late to start again—and I did.

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve been able to give back. I’ve mentored students, served clients with dignity, and created a space where self-care is more than a service—it’s a celebration of who you are.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: Your past can be the foundation for your future. Every skill, every role, every challenge prepared me for this moment. And I want the world to know that Beauty Hub HNS was built with love, resilience, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel beautiful—inside and out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d plan the perfect blend of nature, local gems, relaxation, and family fun—just the way I love to live.

We’d kick things off with an early morning hike at Peters Canyon Regional Park or Oak Canyon Nature Center. I love the peace and beauty of these trails, and it’s even better with my husband and our puppy Lucky by our side. After that, we’d grab a healthy brunch at Hidden House Coffee or Café Gratitude in Newport Beach.

We’d dedicate a beach day midweek—Crystal Cove State Park is my go-to for relaxing by the water, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a quiet moment to reflect. I’d also take them on a scenic drive along Pacific Coast Highway, with a pit stop for tacos at Las Brisas in Laguna Beach. Watching the sunset from there is a must!

A trip to Old Towne Orange is always a hit—charming antique shops, mom-and-pop eateries, and a great place to walk around and grab a drink. In the evenings, we’d unwind at home with the family, cooking, laughing, and enjoying the presence of my grandkids and of course, Lucky!

Before they leave, I’d bring them by Beauty Hub HNS for a high-end facial or relaxing spa treatment—because no trip is complete without a little self-care!

My idea of the perfect week is simple: nature, family, great food, community spots, and moments of peace. That’s the heart of how I live, and it’s what I’d want my best friend to experience too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s no way I could have built Beauty Hub HNS or made such a major career shift without the love and support of my family. I want to give my biggest shoutout to my husband of 13 years, our three amazing children, and our beautiful grandchildren. Their belief in me—especially when I decided to step into the beauty industry after over 37 years in healthcare—gave me the courage to follow my heart.

My husband stood by me during every late-night study session, every exam, and every long day at the salon. My children encouraged me to keep going when imposter syndrome crept in. And now, seeing my grandchildren look up to me as someone who never stopped growing fills me with pride.

I also want to shout out my instructors and peers who supported me while I pursued my esthetician, nail tech, and cosmetology licenses. And of course, to every client who has walked through the doors of Beauty Hub HNS—thank you for trusting me with your care. This journey is for all of you.
