Hi Dr. Shahab, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My Height Lengthening surgery practice aims to help individuals who are shorter than average to increase their height, allowing them to feel more confident and blend better into society without feeling inferior.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our practice is located in the heart of Burbank a few minutes from the airport and across the street from our main hospital, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. We cater to all orthopedic injuries, including sports, personal and occupational injuries. Our services include Cosmetic Height Lengthening, injuries in adults and children, joint replacement surgery, hand injuries, neck and back pain issues, foot and ankle problems, and lower extremity deformities such as bow legs and knock knees.

We provide our patients with adequate time and real-life illustrations so that they can properly understand the severity of their condition. Usually a conservative care approach is initiated for the injury or condition before deciding on the need for surgery. Most patients have a fear of surgery and we understand that it should be left as a last option.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is a very unique metropolitan area that caters to all different ethnicities, religions, and social status. Our patients that fly in from out of town, have a wide range of activities, places, and restaurants to visit. It’s one of the only places in the world where you can ski during the day and go to the beach at night! You can visit the iconic landmarks such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood Sign. Our office is located very close to Universal Studios where you can learn about how the magic of Hollywood takes place and likely run into celebrities on a daily basis.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My motivation to become a limb lengthening surgeon started with realizing the need in society for people that lack the confidence and feel inferior to others due to their short stature. I was encouraged by my family to go into a field of orthopedic surgery where there is further need for development, and surgeons to be able to provide such care. My training took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), which is the #1 orthopedic hospital in the country, under the care of Dr. Rozbruch and Dr. Fragomen who served as my mentors. I have found great passion and fulfillment in being able to help people that are in need of feeling more confident and striving for success in their lives.
